While Mom is visiting, we’ve got a lot on our plates. I’ve jumped back into work in the afternoons, and we’re celebrating two birthdays – Jeremiah’s (from April) and Mom’s (from January). It’s a full and happy house!
This card isn’t for either of them… but honestly, it would have been perfect for both. I guess you could say this birthday card is fit for a King. See what I did there?!
Here’s the birthday card I made with the Caring Animals stamp set and Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper:
How adorable is this lion, tucking in the birthday wishes?! I couldn’t resist pulling out my Golden Glow Stampin’ Blends along with some coordinating papers to give him a proper royal backdrop.
Here’s a look at the Caring Animals stamp set, coming soon in the May–August 2026 Catalog:
I stamped the lion with Basic Black Hybrid Ink (another upcoming favorite!), and once it was completely dry, I brought him to life with a mix of Golden Glow, Crumb Cake, and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. His festive party hat is colored with Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin’ Blends – such a fun pop of color!
The patterned papers behind this royal celebrator come from the 2026-2028 In Color Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper. One of my favorite updates this year is that these color family papers are now 12″ x 12″. And the patterns are excellent!
Here’s a peek at the 2026–2028 In Color Painted Patterns pages:
It just made sense to give this lion a Golden Glow mane. I didn’t overthink it – I just started coloring, and it came together beautifully. Pairing it with a Crumb Cake body and tail gave such a soft, cohesive look.
To finish the card, I added a trio of banners along the side of the focal panel using the Stylish Shapes Dies. This little detail adds movement and gives the eye a place to travel – plus, it gives me an excuse to give you a closer look at the lion’s tail:
This card features two of the new In Colors – Golden Glow and Crisp Cantaloupe. I truly couldn’t be more excited about this collection. They’re bright, happy and perfectly versatile.

Sometimes the simplest ideas – a cute image, a strong color combo, and a few thoughtful details – can come together to create something really special.
