May is a big month for celebrations – birthdays, holidays, graduations, moms and more! Today I’m sharing a monochromatic birthday card I made for my friend Mitch. While it’s mostly Misty Moonlight and white, I added a little pop of shine and a fun layout that takes this “masculine card” into “beautiful card” territory.
Here’s the card I made for Mitch that I’m excited to share with you today:
I used my Stampin’ Positioner to stamp “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” repeatedly across the Basic White card front. That repetition allowed me to have fun with the balloons without needing to add another sentiment to the front of the card.
New stamping rule: If you stamp a sentiment 10+ times on the front of a card, you don’t have to add another one. 🙂
Here’s a look at the Thanks Man stamp set that features the large, rounded “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” sentiment:
I also added “YOU’RE OLD” and “THAT’S ROUGH” inside the card for a playful nudge to someone who’s [essentially] my age. 🙂
The large balloons on the card were cropped with the Balloon Festoon Dies. I love these dies – they made it so easy to build this card! I cropped the larger balloon from the corner of a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock and cut the smaller balloon from a polka-dotted piece of Misty Moonlight Painted Patterns Neutrals Designer Series Paper.
Here’s a look at the Balloon Festoon Bundle:
And here’s a closer look at the way the balloons are positioned on the card:
I added a trio of gold stars for a little extra shine. I painted a piece of Basic White cardstock with my Golden Glow Shimmer Brush (excellent shine!) and cropped three stars with the small star die from the Service Essentials Dies.
I wish my photo could fully capture the shimmer created with the brush – for reference, it’s very similar to Wink of Stella, but with color! As if the stars didn’t create enough sparkle, I also added a trio of Golden Glow dots from the 2026-2028 In Color Dots.
Stamps: Thanks Man Papers: Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper (Neutrals), Misty Moonlight, Basic White Inks: Misty Moonlight, Golden Glow Shimmer Brush Accessories: Stampin’ Positioner, Balloon Festoon Dies, Service Essentials Dies, 2026-2028 In Color Dots (Golden Glow), Stampin’ Dimensionals
