Thanks a Million & A New Photopolymer Stamp Set

After the month I had in March, I have a lot to be thankful for.  In my spare time (is there really such a thing?), I’ve been making thank you cards to send to the people who were so kind to my family and me.  Here’s one of them:20130410-200536.jpg

Tips, Tricks and Reminders:

  • Color Selection.  While I often select card colors with online color challenges (The Paper Players or Pals Paper Arts) or with combinations in my Color Coach, I most often pick a DSP I like and just steal the colors from it – thief it right from the images on the paper.  Easy as can be!  I have been in love with this paper from International Bazaar Designer Series Paper but have never quite been able to figure out how to use it.  Done.  **Disclaimer:  As I am writing this post, I realize that the borders around the Tangerine Tango shapes are Pacific Point, not Midnight Muse.  Argh!  The lines are so thin that they really do coordinate well.
  • Add a pop!  As I sat back to look at my square card with its circles and patterns, I realized I needed a little something else.  That’s when I reached for my Perfect Pennants Bigz L die.  One of the pennants fits perfectly behind the 2-1/2″ Circle.  Because I have to see all my options, I cropped the 3″ circle and the pennants in Midnight Muse, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party and Whisper White.  I tried every combination, trying to decide which color I wanted to pop out from under the Whisper White circle.  I set them out, switched them out, set them out again.  That’s when it hit me to use them all!  put the two pennants together and turn one of the a little.  All colors represented!  Woo hoo! Thanks a Million
  • Out of ink?  I have really grown fond of Tangerine Tango.  Before this year, I can’t think of a time when I’ve used it (outside of a couple of Halloween projects that were too dark for Pumpkin Pie).  Now, it’s one of my “I can’t live without it” colors.  I use it all the time.  That’s why I panicked when I reached for my Tangerine Tango ink pad to find that it was missing.  I couldn’t find the pad in the stacks of stamping supplies on my craft table.  Quick moment of high anxiety.  That’s when it occurred to me that I could just use my Tangerine Tango embossing powder to add yet another special touch to this special card.  Yee-haw!

  1. Really nice Brian 🙂 Love the colours together. Vx

  2. Yee Haw! I love the Designer Paper pattern in this card! What excellent architectural elements paired together in this card with shapes & textures including your scored horizontal tangerine tango panel! I understand the anxiety all to well when you’re deep into a project to realize you’re missing an important piece of the pie! Luckily you were able to ad lib with the embossing powder! Nice save! 🙂

  3. Great card. Free time……what is that?? 🙂

  4. Well as usual you gave me a project to try . I really like how you did triple colors behind the sentiment . Plus that Tangerine Tango embossing idea was a great save …. I think this card could be used for a number of events ! I like it .

  5. Very lovely colors, Brian. I liked your “argh!” when you discovered you’d used Midnight Muse instead of Pacific Point. That happened to me recently with Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry. Shock! I am still not sure how the Crushed Curry even got on my desk!
:-0 Whether Midnight Muse or Pacific Point,
it is a very nice combination, Brian.

  6. That’s really nice and thoughtful of you. I truly hope your doing better. Hang in there and let me know when you feel like stamping.

  7. Brian-VERY attractive card. I felt your frustration with the Pacific Point vs. Midnight Muse issue. That has happened to me too often, so from now on I just save the backing from the DSP’s, because the color combo are listed right there and I never have to “guess” anymore. Love the new Bombs away stamp set – so edgey and funny!!

  8. Wonderful card! Love your colors….even the darker blue works like magic! I have never been a fan of oranges but have found that Tangerinr Tango and Pumpkin Pie work for me…thanks for sharing, Brian!

  9. Good morning Brian:
You did it again you genius!

  10. This card is fantastic Brian!!! I am a wee bit color blind… so had you not said anything I would have never noticed… but this card just has that “WOW FACTOR!!” Fabulous!!!
Love the tangerine tango & pool party together with the midnight muse/pacific point…. LOVE THIS CARD!! and love the fact that you were able to save the day with the embossing powder since you misplaced your ink pad… (hope you have found it!! I have done that…. sends me straight into a panic…. lol)

  11. Oh no…do I have your Tangerine Tango pad too? Wouldn’t surprise me….lol. Beautiful card. I love the way it turned out! I know who is getting it and think she will love it!

  12. The Tangering Tango sentiment stands out beautifully! And i am really looking forward to my new order opportunity – the new photopolymer stamp set will be on it 🙂

  13. Bold and fresh. So you had a little color oops, I think it works just fine! Where or where could Tangerine Tango be? Hope you find the rascal.
