New Video: Stampin’ Up!’s New Archival Stampin’ Pads

I’ve been doing a lot of coloring lately.  If you’ve been following along, you’ve seen me coloring a lot with my Stampin’ Write Markers – I’ve been customizing my Designer Series Papers and coloring fun images with these little water-based inks.  Since I’m so impassioned with these markers, I thought I would share a quick video to show you how much I love them and offer some tips for working with Stampin’ Write Markers and their new best friend – the Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad (available in the upcoming Holiday Catalog).

Please enjoy my video:

Here are some stats about the new Basic Black and Basic Gray Archival Stampin’ Pads:

Classic Archival Pads have permanent ink, making them the obvious choice for watercoloring techniques.  The innovative ink pad design has a patented flip-top lid and a felt pad to give you a superior stamping experience.  Archival ink works equally well with rubber stamps and photopolymer stamps.

  • Fast drying, permanent ink
  • Offered in Basic Black and Basic Gray
  • Acid free
  • Flip top for upside-down storage: pad stay inked during storage
  • Can be re-inked with Archival Stampin’ Ink Refills

Here are some projects I’ve recently shared with this new pad and my Stampin’ Write Markers (you can click on the picture to see the original posts):

Over the Rainbow, Brick Wall Embossing Folder, Stampin' Up!, Brian King Lighthearted Leaves, Stampin' Up!, Brian King Merry Everything, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA263 Dove of Peace, Reason for the Season, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS199

Bottom line:  you need these Stampin’ Write Markers.  Whether you buy them in bulk or by color family (some are even available in single markers), you are certain to use these pens – especially when the new Archival inks are available!

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Thanks for the awesome video Brian, very helpful 😀

  2. Great video! I agree with you – these new inks are so awesome. Love how you refer to adult coloring- it’s so hot right now. Thanks for the video and love all the cards you have done using the new ink.

  3. Great video and I too love the new Archival ink. I especially like your “upside” to a stained photopolymer stamp!

  4. You are having waaaay too much fun Brian! Lol love your videos !

  5. Great video Brian, so glad there are new SU inks for water coloring.
And it’s true, your photopolymer stamps get stained but this doesn’t damage them and they are easy to find, if you ever misplace them, don’t ask me how I know that, 😉

  6. This was a very informative video. Thanks for the tips on using these stamp pads. It’s a little scary at first when you realize the ink does not come off the stamp, but then to realize that after cleaning it, it doesn’t transfer is a big relief.

  7. Brian great video on the new archival inks. Since I haven’t gotten these yet I would really like to know what is the best way to clean the rubber and the photopolymer stamps, does the regular stamping cleaner work or must you use Staz On cleaner, also how about baby wipes? I have been watching and so far haven’t seen any tips for cleaning.

    • Thanks, Carol! I’ve received a lot of questions on this and will add a further description to my blog post tomorrow in hopes that it will reach more people who might have the same questions. Thanks so much!

Brian, great video but I was wondering what the difference between this new black ink pad and the black stazon is??

  9. Love, love, love it when you visit me first thing in the morning via videos. You do a great job with them and I’ll have to try one of those stamp pads for sure.

  10. Another great video with some wonderful tips. You always make everything look so easy!

  11. Brian, I’d also love to know about recommended cleaning. I assume stampin’ mist as staz-on is for staz-on (lol, right??). But I’d also love an explanation on how these new archival pads are different than staz-on or memento ink. Please share your brilliance about that.

    Signed gratefully,
    Ink Pad Confused ??

    • Julie – Like Memento, this ink can be cleaned right in your Stampin’ Scrub or with wipes. No need for additional cleaner (like StazOn). I’ve received a lot of questions on this and will add a further description to my blog post tomorrow in hopes that it will reach more people who might have the same questions. Thanks so much!

  12. I would also like the same info as Ink Pad Confused. I have used and loved Memento long before Stampin Up started selling it, a comparison would be much appreciated. Me2 inking confusion

    • Hi, Carol! Like Memento, this ink can be cleaned right in your Stampin’ Scrub or with wipes. No need for additional cleaner (like StazOn). 13. I have looked in the catalog and in the holiday catalog for these stamp pads. I can not find them so I can order them. Where do I look? I am a new demonstrator and i am still learning. Can you please help me out. Thank you so very much. Basic Black and Basic Gray Archival Stampin’ Pads:

  14. Tammy,

The new archival pads are in the holiday catalog 🙂

Keep looking, sometimes it’s hard to find things or they’re hidden amongst all the new goodies.

You can also log into the website and go to place an order and click the search icon to search for “archival”. That should bring them up for you.

  15. Thank you so very much for your help. I love watching you videos and seeing all the wonderful cards you make. Thank you for sharing.

  16. I am also loving the new archival pads. And have you been in my craft room, place of missing photopolymer stamps? I have no problem with the photopolymers staining, especially if they end up on the bottom of a paper folder and don’t turn up for a week!
Great video, I think you are bound for Hollywood!

  17. agree with Carol B. would also like to know the difference between the new basic black stampin up ink pads and the memento ink pads SU sells? thanks so much for your tutorials!!!

    • Angela – Like Memento, this ink can be cleaned right in your Stampin’ Scrub or with wipes. No need for additional cleaner (like StazOn). I’ve received a lot of questions on this and will add a further description to my blog post tomorrow in hopes that it will reach more people who might have the same questions. Thanks so much!

  18. I “lost” my favorite photopolymer sheet to the bottom of some DSP. LOL! (It was Floral Wings)Had I not decided to change the color of my envelope paper, I would have been a long time before I found them again. I love stained photopolymer stamps!

  19. Awesome demo vid; love how that black stamps!

  20. excellent job explaining the new pad and benefits! Thanks!

  21. Great video…thank you!!!

  22. Great video, Brian. I am loving the new archival pad too, although the first time it didn’t seem to get as inky as Memento. But, once my stamp was a little “dirty”, it seemed to work much better. Thanks again!

  23. Can markers be use with regular SU ink or just archival type ink inks?

    • Stampin’ Write Markers are best with StazOn or the new Archival Pad. They are water-based inks (both the markers and the pads), so they tend to bleed a bit. The StazOn and Archival Pads are permanent and won’t bleed.

  24. Thanks for the video and your feedback to questions explaining the difference of these pads. Do you find that you’re using the gray pad too or just the black?

  25. Loved your video Brian! Your samples are fabulous.
