You Wonderful Thing You

When I first looked at the Suite Sayings stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog, I was a bit baffled by one of the sayings.  I couldn’t quite put the “You wonderful thing you” words together in my mind to create the appropriate sentiment.  It didn’t sound right to me.  Once I spiced it up with a touch of sass, the words all came together perfectly.  The sassy sentiment is perfect for a thank you card, so I made a thank you card (predictable, huh?).  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • You Wonderful Thing You.  As I mentioned in the opening of this post, I wasn’t quite sure how to read this sentiment until I put a little sass into it.  Visually, I love the modern font and the skew triangles used in this sentiment.  The wonky shapes, too, pair perfectly with this design from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack.  The combination of the two gives the right balance of whimsy and cuteness.  Let’s be honest – it’s cute to be wonderful.  Here’s a peak at the Suite Sayings stamp set, possibly my favorite item in the 2016 Occasions Catalog because it’s super-versatile.  Go ahead and add it to your list – you’ll thank me later.

  • Different Borders.  I often make panels are cards that are perfectly framed with thin pieces of cardstock.  For this modern and fun card, though, I wanted to do something a little different.  Instead of wrapping the Basic Black border all the way around the front panel from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack, I decided to only give a thin border on the sides.  I cut the Basic Black cardstock and Designer Series Paper at the same height (5-1/4″) and then lined up the bottom with my Stampin’ Trimmer to glue down the layers.  If you missed my video that shows how to line up papers along the edges, you can see it here.
  • Ornate Tag Topper punch.  I’ve found so many great uses for this Ornate Tag Topper punch – I make more tags for cards and gift-giving than I ever thought I would before these Tag Toppers came around.  The punch is on this week’s Weekly Deals, so there’s no better time to grab it.  🙂

I hope you like this simple card – just enough details to make it interesting without taking away from the products used.  Don’t you agree that “You wonderful thing you” is a great way to say “thanks!” – especially if you add a little sass?  🙂
