You’re So Sweet – Honeycomb Happiness

With so many great, new products in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog and 2016 Sale-a-Bration brochure, it’s hard to pick which item you want to play with first.  When I sat down to make this card, I wanted a sweet and simple card – without bragging, I think I nailed it.  Not only does the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set give me super-sweet images, but the colors work well together, too.  Here’s my card, created using a Crumb Cake Note Card as the base:

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Fun Frame.  It might be difficult to tell from the photo, but the sentiment and corresponding frame are cropped from two pieces of paper.  “You’re so sweet” is stamped on Thick Whisper White cardstock, cropped with the Tags & Labels Framelits and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The Early Espresso Frame is cropped, too, with two of the Tags & Labels Framelits (two sizes apart from one another).  The So Saffron you see on the label is coming from the cardstock underneath the frame.
  • Line that Envelope.  Stampin’ Up!’s Envelope Liner Framelits offer three sizes for envelope liners – the dies fit Stampin’ Up!’s Medium Envelopes, Note Card Envelopes and Small (3″ x 3″) Envelopes.  To pull the So Saffron Strip from the front of this card into the envelope, I lined this envelope with a print from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.  So sweet!Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Sweet Colors.  The So Saffron band was the last item I added to this card – the Blushing Bride ice cream, Crumb Cake base/cone and Early Espresso sentiment/frame needed one more soft color.  I could have easily paired them with Soft Sky or Pear Pizzazz, but So Saffron just felt right to me – such a sweet accent to the others beautiful colors.Stampin' Up! 1. You’re card is “so sweet” as well. Love the sophisticated pastels and neutrals together!

You did such a “sweet” job on this card and envelope, Brian. ?

  3. Great card, Brian. Sweet, elegant, but simple. Who doesn’t like strawberry ice cream??? I love how you cropped the Early Expresso frame so the So Saffron is shown. Your creativity is showing and that is a good thing.

  4. Hi Brian:

Well you fooled me! Seeing as you are the King of Layering I thought the So Saffron was it’s own layer that you put the white on. AHA – but you fooled me by getting the 3 layer look using only 2 layers. So you can say “gotcha” and be totally right. Such a great card and so easy on the eye. I love it.

  5. Thank you for mentioning that our eyes were deceiving us. Very clever Mr. King, very smart in saving paper and cute to boot. ?
