Amy Lazzell created a fun sketch for us this week at Pals Paper Arts. I immediately knew I wanted to showcase one of the beautiful prints from one of this year’s amazing Sale-a-Bration selections – Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper. I pulled the colors from this paper to make this sweet card that’s perfect for almost any celebration. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for Amy’s challenge that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Busy Patterns. This paper sure is pretty – but with so many colors and detailed flowers, it can be busy, busy, busy. To make sure the print didn’t take over the entire card, I selected a simple sentiment and bordered it with a large circle (this adds distance between the sentiment and the printed paper). I also kept my “vertical band” solid so as to not add-to the pattern.
- Quick Embellishment. I love this sentiment from Birthday Blossoms, a stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog. It’s not perfectly centered, so I tucked it into the bottom corner of the circle punch when I punched it out. OK, so I know that circles don’t have corners, Smarty Pants, but you know what I was saying, right? To further balance it all out, I added a Calypso Coral flower with my Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (that’s necessary to have!) and a Pearl Basic Jewel. This is a perfect accent for this sentiment and pairs perfectly with this paper!
- Spring Color Combination. Blackberry Bliss is one of the 2014-2016 In Colors that will be going away at the end of May (unless Stampin’ Up! surprises us with a color refresh and includes this luscious, deep purple in the permanent collection of colors). Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon (also 2014-2016 In Colors) are included in the background of this paper, too, but I pulled Blackberry Bliss and Calypso Coral (a former In Color that transitioned into a Subtles color) for the rest of my card. If you like to combination of colors, too, feel free to save this:
Stamp Sets: Birthday Blossoms Papers: Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper, Calypso Coral, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White Inks: Blackberry Bliss Accessories: 2″ Circle punch, 1-3/4″ Circle punch, 1-3/8″ Circle punch, Hexagon punch (for banner tips), Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (flower), Pearl Basic Jewels, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to Pals Paper Arts to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
