I combined this week’s sketch for the Paper Players and color challenge from Can You Case It? to make a thank you card with What I Love, a Sale-a-Bration stamp set I’ve only used once. I’m so happy with how this turned out – the combination of LeAnne Pugliese’s layout and the CYCI colors gave me a modern, crisp, graphic card that appeals to my uber-clean style. Here’s my card:
And here are the banners for the challenge that inspired my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Time is Ticking. You might not think of What I Love in such a bold, graphic card, but it works here, don’t you think? This three-step stamping set allows you to build a gorgeous flower with different colors or intensities of color. The sentiments in the set, though, are perfectly wonderful for a non-flower card. Sale-a-Bration ends March 31 – if you don’t already have this set, what are you waiting for? It can be yours as your Sale-a-Bration selection with a $50 purchase. 🙂
- Repetitive Edges. I love how the corners of the Tags & Labels Framelits mimic the corners of the band I used for my “banner” on the card. This band was cropped from the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. That small detail really builds a feeling of unity on this project, and unity is easy on the eyes.
- When Circles and Stars Don’t Work. Speaking of “easy on the eyes,” my first idea was to add circles or a star in place of the Tags & Labels Framelits. Those images weren’t working with the striped paper – the stripes needed a hard edge to fall into, so the Tags & Labels Framelits worked perfectly. It took me a while to figure out that the stripes needed to have a “hard stop” on this card, but I was happy when I did.
Stamp Sets: What I Love Papers: Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack (Crumb Cake, Basic Gray), Regals Designer Series Paper Stack (Night of Navy), Whisper White, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy Inks: Night of Navy Accessories: Tags & Labels Framelits, Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to The Paper Players and to Can You Case This? to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Contemporary card-clean and fresh!
Thanks, Lisa! This sketch and these colors handed me this modern look.
Very bold stripes – love the way you made the white stripe on all three colors match. It’s like sewing and matching the plaids or stripes. Very clean and crisp!
Thanks, Evelyn. It was fun to match them up – always a fun task for me. 🙂
This is so handsome . . . especially how you lined up each stripe perfectly with the next.
Thanks, Mary! I like the term “handsome”…describes it well.
