What I Love for PP288 and CYCI113

I combined this week’s sketch for the Paper Players and color challenge from Can You Case It? to make a thank you card with What I Love, a Sale-a-Bration stamp set I’ve only used once.  I’m so happy with how this turned out – the combination of LeAnne Pugliese’s layout and the CYCI colors gave me a modern, crisp, graphic card that appeals to my uber-clean style.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Time is Ticking.  You might not think of What I Love in such a bold, graphic card, but it works here, don’t you think?  This three-step stamping set allows you to build a gorgeous flower with different colors or intensities of color.  The sentiments in the set, though, are perfectly wonderful for a non-flower card.  Sale-a-Bration ends March 31 – if you don’t already have this set, what are you waiting for?  It can be yours as your Sale-a-Bration selection with a $50 purchase.  🙂

  • Repetitive Edges.  I love how the corners of the Tags & Labels Framelits mimic the corners of the band I used for my “banner” on the card.  This band was cropped from the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits.  That small detail really builds a feeling of unity on this project, and unity is easy on the eyes.

  • When Circles and Stars Don’t Work.  Speaking of “easy on the eyes,” my first idea was to add circles or a star in place of the Tags & Labels Framelits.  Those images weren’t working with the striped paper – the stripes needed a hard edge to fall into, so the Tags & Labels Framelits worked perfectly.  It took me a while to figure out that the stripes needed to have a “hard stop” on this card, but I was happy when I did.
