SNEAK PEEK: Petals & Paisleys for GDP#050

This week’s sketch challenge for the Global Design Project gives us a super-simple sketch that’s perfect for showcasing a large design or beautiful panels of Designer Series Paper.  You already know how much I love my Designer Series Paper, so I couldn’t help but feature it on my card.  The Petals & Paisleys Designer Series Paper delivers the beautiful prints I wanted to showcase.  Here’s my card:

The largest piece of Designer Series Paper is 4-1/4″ x 4-1/2″, and the houndstooth piece is 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″.  And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDP050Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.  There’s a sentiment and two leaves on this card, but – let’s be honest – this card is all about the Designer Series Paper.  Right?  While this gorgeous paper is filled with beautiful colors that are perfect for anytime of year, the Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede and copper play really well during Fall.  I’m not a “purple guy” but really love these Rich Razzleberry patterns I used on this card.  Here are the other beautiful patterns you’ll find in this set of papers:

  • Peek-a-Boo.  I adore the way the sentiment is positioned in this sweet-and-simple sketch.  I tried different sentiments and different shapes, but I love the way this sentiment from Acorny Thank You works with the cutout from the Tags & Labels Framelits.  So that the thin layer of Designer Series paper wouldn’t buckle with a tag beneath it, I made sure the label would fit right up against the panel of paper.  I stamped the sentiment close to the edge of a piece of Very Vanilla Paper and then cropped it with the edge of a label die.  Perfect!
  • Color for Fall.  I love the shades of Rich Razzelberry in these papers and accented them with Crumb Cake.  The sentiment is stamped with Rich Razzleberry, and the leaves are stamped with Crumb Cake.  If you like these colors, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! 1. Love the houndstooth with this look! Very dapper!

  2. Great card, Brian. I like the paisley with the houndstooth and that you edged the houndstooth with solid CS to separate the two prints. This color combo is very pretty. I’ll have to save it. Have a great day!

  3. I am loving the way you arranged these papers, Brian! Really a nice, clean look! I would have said “dapper”, too, but Mary beat me to it…LOL!

  4. Always, a master of layering. Love the colors of this papers, fabulous details.

  5. Cute! I really like the sketch. I’ll be trying that.

  6. Great color choices Brian! I love the way you always manage to use multiple stamp sets together on one card. Rich Razzleberry is one of my favorites for sure!

  7. I love the color combo . I have never put those two together ,but I will now !
