A Random Act of Kindness for GDP#055

What is a Random Act of Kindness?  When you send an unexpected and kind note to a friend or when you compliment a stranger’s outfit in line at the grocery store, you are engaging in a Random Act of Kindness (RAK, for short).  When the stranger in the car ahead of you pays for your coffee in the Starbucks drive-through, their unanticipated kindness makes you happy – and you’ll likely pass that feeling along to someone else.  Congratulations, you RAK-engager, for already being an RAK spokesperson (even if you didn’t have a word for it).  🙂

This week’s GDP challenge is to create a RAK project – I combined some projects from Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog with some great products in the Holiday Catalog to create a sweet, simple card for a friend who isn’t expecting to hear from me.  Here’s my card:

Bunch of Blossoms, Merry Tags Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP055And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:gdp055Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Merry Tags Framelits Dies.  While the Merry Tags Framelits Dies are designed for the Christmas Holidays, these amazing dies are not going to be packed away when Christmas is gone.  You can certainly use them to make great ornaments, but there’s great versatility to the dies – especially this one I cropped with Night of Navy cardstock.  Bunch of Blossoms, Merry Tags Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP055By snipping off the ornament holder and adding a non-Christmas sentiment, I’ve successfully transformed this otherwise-Christmas tag.

  • Non-standard Size.  The GDP Design Team is made up of designers from all over the world.  Every week, they inspire me to re-think the standard sizes I use for my cards.  While the standards 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card front works well for me most times, I like to step outside my box every once in a while.  The card front of this simple card is 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″.  This card could fit into a standard, medium envelope for mailing.
  • Envelope Punch Board.  The non-standard size of the card base gave me the not-so-common opportunity to pull out my Envelope Punch Board.  With a coordinating piece of Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, I cropped an envelope for this Gladstone-sized card.  The thing, blue stripes that are featured on the band of this card front make an appearance on the inside of this envelope for perfect coordination.Bunch of Blossoms, Merry Tags Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP055
