Thanks for Being You for PPA324

Since July 2013, I’ve been so honored to be a member of the Pals Paper Arts Design Team.  The group was already a thriving challenge when I joined Stampin’ Up!, and I’m thrilled I could be a part of it for so long.  Today, though, is the very last Pals Paper Arts challenge.  🙁  My dear friend Ginger Toivonen created the super-fun sketch for this monumental challenge.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

PPA324Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I’ve been studying Ginger’s sketch for quite some time.  I knew I’d crop a piece of striped Designer Series Paper for this challenge, but I wasn’t really sure which piece until I sat down to make this card.  I landed on this GORGEOUS page of thin stripes from Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The colors – Night of Navy, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaron – look great against a backdrop of Very Vanilla.  I cut right along the line in the pattern.  Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!I created this graphic for all of the Designer Series Papers in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog.  If you’d like to see the others, CLICK HERE.
  • A Scalloped Edge.  Before gluing down this unique panel, I knew I needed something else to balance out the large oval of Delightful Dijon.  Even a small strip could create the needed impact, but why use a small strip when I could embellish with a design from the Flourish Thinlits Dies?  I added glue to the back of the Night of Navy panel and glued it down to the cropped Thinlit before snipping the edges and gluing the panel to the card base.
  • Color Combination.  Blue and yellow are a classic combination.  You can pick almost any shade of blue and pair it with any shade of yellow in Stampin’ Up!’s color collection for a perfectly fun combination.  If you like this combination of Delightful Dijon and Night of Navy, too, please save this:Stampin' Up! 2. Even though today is the last of the Paper Pals Challenges, I’m sure we’ll see you and the other team members making amazing projects for us. Today’s card is a great take on the sketch.
