Spread Some Christmas Cheer for PP321

Joanne James is hosting this week’s Paper Players color challenge – Mint Macaron, Emerald Envy and Real Red.  What a beautiful combination.  I initially thumbed through my Presents and Pinecones Designer Series Paper before realizing that paper is designed with Cherry Cobbler.  I could have argued for my “artistic license,” but I wanted to honor her selections.  I went with bold, graphic and simple.  Here’s my card:

Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Mint Macaron, Emerald Envy, Real RedTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  I’ve shared the promotional information for Stampin’ Up!’s new Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, but today is the first time I’m sharing the awesomeness of these dies on a project I’ve made.  The Whisper White circle that surrounds the sentiment includes the cutout circle and stitched edge from the Framelits.  So cool!  They cut like a charm and pair perfectly with the Layering Circles, Layering Ovals and Layering Squares Framelits.  Such a great product!  These dies are a deal, and you want them…really bad.

  • Bold and Graphic.  As I mentioned above, I wanted to make a bold and graphic backdrop for the sweet and stylish sentiment.  I added strips of Mint Macaron and Real Red to a Thick Whisper White panel that was then mounted on a base of Emerald Envy.  The Mint Macaron strips are 1″ each, while the Real Red strip is 3/4″.  This gave me just the right amount of space to line up the 2-11/16″ Circle inside the strips.  Not only did I position the stripes toward the bottom of the card front, but I positioned the circles sentiment along the left side of the stripes.  All of that gave me a perfectly balanced, graphic appeal.
  • Sentiment.  Do you recognize this sentiment?  If you aren’t interested in putting together the great kits in the Holiday Catalog, you shouldn’t bypass the great stamp sets that coordinate.  They work well with the kits AND with other projects.  The Tin of Tags stamp set is filled with great sentiments for the Holidays – I love the fonts used with “Spread Some Christmas Cheer.”  They are so festive and fun.  Bonus for me that they fit perfectly inside this Stitched Circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  🙂Tin of Tags, Stitched Shapes Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  1. Clean & simple at it’s best. Gorgeous blocks of color and the perfect sentiment! You are my “go to” for perfect sentiments!

  2. Beautifully layered card. Love Joanne’s colour combo, I’ll have to give it a try. Btw, I think that it’s only the 25% sale that ends this month – here’s a quote from the site: “although the 25% off stamps sets ends November 30, you will still be able to get the Stitched Shapes Framelits after that date.”

  3. Awesome card, love the strip of Real Red behind the beautiful sentiment!
And I can’t wait to receive my swap card, this is just awesome Brian, thank you for hosting this swap, I bet your mail box was overflowed every day.
I’m anxious to see all the cards you received here on your blog, it’s so much fun.
    Big Hugs,
    Maria.

  5. Perfect layout, perfect card, perfect sentiment, Brian! You da King of creation!

  6. Haha! I also reached for Presents and Pinecones first thing when I saw the Paper Players challenge and then realized it was Cherry Cobbler and not Real Red!

I love the bold and colorful stripes on your card! The Tin of Tags sentiment looks awesome with the Stitched Shapes circle: it fits just perfectly!

  7. Ah you came to my rescue once again! I have been tasked with making as many holiday or winter themed cards for nursing homes as I can this week. My order with this stamp set and new stitched framelits are on their way. I will be able to zip out several of these to add to the selection. I might add a little mitten or peppermint candy to the design for variance or change out the colors. Thanks a bunch for the cool Yule idea!

  8. Hi Brian:

Bravo for sticking withe the Real Red Brian – I think it allows your sentiment and banner to pop in a way Cherry Cobbler never would 😉 I love this sentiment too and it’s perfectly framed with your stitched die.
