Oooh! I’m excited to share today’s card! Not only does this card offer a perfect blend of colors (thanks to inspiration from the Carried Away Designer Series Paper), but it also showcases a seamless combination of three stamp sets to create a fun focal point for this card. PLUS – it’s always nice to tell people they are fantastic (when they are, indeed, fantastic). Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Combining Stamps. Sometimes you just have to own all the stamps. All the stamps. Having all (or at least most) of the stamps gives you freedom to make any card you want without the worry that you don’t have the one stamp from that set you don’t have. 🙂 Today’s card features three stamp sets in one, seamless sentiment. It started with Cake Crazy. Instead of building a sentiment-filled birthday cake with the set, I decided to simply create a fun combination of words and images that work perfectly together.
- Balance. The Cake Crazy set balances a bunch of great words on a topsy-turvy cake stand. The Night of Navy base (with a flat bottom and slanted top) informs the slant of the sentiments. To balance the entire sentiment, I engaged my patented “squinting technique” to determine the placement of the star on top. By placing it a little to the left, I was able to offset all the slants to the right. Squint and look at the card to see what I mean – then mail me a nickel. 🙂
- Happy Colors. I pulled the colors for this card straight from the the Carried Away Designer Series Paper. Peekaboo Peach, Watermelon Wonder and Night of Navy. I love this combination of a soft color, a bright color and a regal color. If you like this combination, too, please save this for future inspiration:

Oh my Brian – Now you are no longer just the Layering King you are also the Combo King! You must have an amazing mind to, first of all, remember all the words in all your stamp sets to be able to combine them, and second, to know exactly where they are.
