Stampin’ Up!’s Super Duper for CTS210

Before I share today’s card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, I want to thank the amazing team for selecting my card from last week’s challenge as an Honorable Mention.  These online challenges keep me inspired, so it’s always fun to play along.  It’s an honor each time one of my cards is selected from the gallery of amazing projects.  If you missed that card, you can see it here.  Thanks, CAS(E) This Sketch!

This week’s sketch for the same challenge team is just as inspiring as last week’s.  I used Super Duper to create a festive, celebratory card to play along with this challenge.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

CTS210I love the way the images in the background of this sketch are repeated exactly on the central, raised layer.  How fun!  My mind went in a thousand directions before I landed on the card design I shared today.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Super Duper.  The new Super Duper stamp set is such a fun set.  I adore this huge, modern birthday sentiments.  Everyone knows SOMEONE who says, “super duper,” right?  And the bold “yay” and fun “Happy Birthday to You” are so fun.  I showcased two of the sentiments and two of the fun stars on my card, giving me a perfect opportunity to play along with the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  Check out the other images and sentiments and images in this fun, new set:

  • Lining it All Up.  You might not be able to tell from the card at an angle, but every single star is perfectly lined up with the stars underneath.  To accomplish that, I cropped several panels of Whisper White cardstock ( each 3-3/4″ x 5″) and stamped the sentiments and stars, one at a time, with my MISTI (an amazing stamp placement tool).  As such, each star is in the exact same place on each panel.  I then cropped the sentiment from one panel and popped it up over another stamped panel.  This was an exact science!  🙂  Here’s a look at this panel from the front:Super Duper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Color Combination.  For this color combination, I was inspired by the colors Stampin’ Up! designers used to showcase this stamp set in the Occasions Catalog – with a few updates.  While the projects showcased in the catalog feature Watermelon Wonder, Bermuda Bay and Delightful Dijon.  I used Real Red, Island Indigo and Delightful Dijon.  If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this:Stampin' Up!
