Toodle-oo, Tip Top Taupe!

Over the next week, I’m be sharing brand new projects with each of the five retiring 2015-2017 In Colors:  Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush.  These colors have been an active part of my life for the past two years, and I’ll sorely miss them when they retire at the end of May, but I also look forward to the new colors that will fill the spot that’s missing when they leave.

2015-2016 In Colors, Stampin' Up! 2015-2016 Annual Catalog PreorderWe still have several months with them, so why am I telling you about them now?  There are two reasons you should be considering these colors now:

  1. Once it is announced that the colors will officially retire, we will likely see a mad-dash to gather up all the In Colors – and they will be gone before you know it.
  2. If you love these colors and want to hoard the paper or ink refills, get them now – you can earn Sale-a-Bration rewards at the same time.  Win-win.
  3. While these colors may not be in the 2016-2017 Catalog, they are all great colors.

Here are the projects I’ve already shared with these retiring In Colors:

TIP TOP TAUPE

I’ve loved Tip Top Taupe since it first entered my life two years ago.  The beautifully neutral shade won’t pick sides – is it brown or is it gray?  Let’s just settle on “brownish gray” or “grayish brown.”  No matter where you think it fits, it’s a wonderful color that is perfect for any number of occasions.  It’s mature but can be very playful, too.  I paired Tip Top Taupe with Blushing Bride for this sweet thinking of you card.  The card was also inspired by this week’s Sketch Challenge at The Paper Players.  Here’s my card:

Falling Flowers, Window Shopping, Irresistibly Floral, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHere’s the challenge banner for Claire’s Paper Players challenge that inspired my card:

PP337Doesn’t Tip Top Taupe look amazing with Blushing Bride?  I made this card for a new friend who is going through a rough time.  I replicated the circle from Claire’s sketch by lightly sponging Blushing Bride ink on this gorgeous piece of Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I then layered another piece of un-inked paper over top of it to create that additional layer.  The flowers (from Falling Flowers stamp set and cropped with the May Flowers Framelits Dies) are stamped on the back of this paper (the back of the paper is flat) so that the whites are perfectly paired.  If you like this combination of colors as much as I do, you can save this:

  1. HI Brian:

Today’s card is so soft and elegant and exudes caring for someone who is undergoing difficult times. What comes to my mind is someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Pink of course is the color for this horrid disease. Thank you for showing me a color combination that reflects feelings of this nature.

  2. Great card Brian. I think Tip Top Taupe is such a great neutral.

  3. Tip Top Taupe is a winner with Blushing Bride. What a pretty card and I love how you are highlighting the retiring In Colors!

  4. Haven’t tried to use the floral DSP yet, but love how you have used it here. Thanks for the inspiration. Beautiful card.

  5. You do floral so well, even though you don’t do it often. Some of my favorite posts from you feature floral stamps or background. Let’s see more! (Just ordered a pack each of Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder before they’re gone.)

  6. Brian, such a color color combo! Love how you sponged the Blushing Bride on the white floral paper! Sad to see these colors disappear! So happy you joined my sketch challenge at The Paper Players this week! XX

  7. What a soft and elegant card, Brian. I love how you specifically didn’t color the paper intended to be colored! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players this week with this beauty! Crystal, DT

  8. Very pretty! And I will miss Triple T as well….beautiful color!

  9. So, so pretty Brian! Your softly sponged background is gorgeous. So glad you joined us this week at The Paper Players!
