Falling Flowers to Welcome Spring

On Saturday, I shared one of the projects I made with my local stamp club – the Watermelon Wonder and Soft Sky smiley Popsicles were just too cute to NOT let y club members make them (if you missed that super-cute card, you can see it here).  Today I’m sharing another card I made with the group.  This one had a more “artistic” edge, but it was just as fun to make.  Here’s my card:

Falling Flowers, May Flowers Framelits, Crazy About You, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Spring card

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Falling Flowers Bundle.  Spring stamp sets that are introduced in Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog are often times overlooked.  Why is that?  Well, by the time the catalog heats up, summer is here and then Christmas projects are just around the corner.  Spring is the last thing on our minds at that point.  Falling Flowers is a must-have, though.  I purchased the bundle (paired with the May Flowers Framelits Dies) when the 2016 Catalog launched and only used it a couple of times for Fall-themed projects.  Check out the beautiful flowers and dies in this bundle:

  • Spring Flowers on Blue.  When I set out to make a card with bright, sweet flowers, I knew I wanted to showcase them on a backdrop of blue.  I knew the colors would “pop” against the blues and couldn’t have been happier with that decision.  I stamped the flourish from the stamp set in Soft Sky ink onto the Soft Sky panel and let the Dapper Denim panel stay clean.  How sweet!  I went back to look at other cards I’ve made with these dies and found this one – with a Pool Party background – I guess this wasn’t the first time I thought blue would make a great backdrop.  You can click on the picture below to see the original post about this card:May Flowers Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, birthday card
  • Inspired By Shawn.  A couple of weeks ago, Shawn deOliveira created a gorgeous card for Global Design Project with this stamp set.  I gasped when I saw his card – it’s stunning in it’s restrained simplicity.  In that card, Shawn used this stamp set (with others) and presented two panels of color (green and blue).  I went back to Shawn’s card and referenced it for inspiration on this card.  You can see Shawn’s card here.  I’ll share more about this CASE of Shawn’s card tomorrow.

  4. You’re absolutely right, as always, Brian. I totally overlooked this set in the annual catalog. Maybe spring stamp sets should be included during Sale-A-Bration when so many are tired of winter and ready for spring and all it’s beautiful flowers. Your card is just gorgeous and the blues are perfect together. Love it.

  5. This is one of my top 3 new stamp sets from the current Annual Catalogue and your card makes me love it even more! I need to make a birthday card for my son’s girlfriend and I may have to case your card. I hope that’s ok. I need a bit of spring in my life as way up here in Canada where I live our snow has now just melted away and spring flowers are starting to poke their stems up from the ground!

  6. Oh how cute ! Love the flowers and the colors are spot on for April . I went to look at Shawn`s card and I remember seeing it before. The details are special and I agree about the blue !
