Whole Lot of Lovely Thanks

Stampin’ Up!’s Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper is filled with gorgeous, rich and oh-so-chic patterns that are perfect for all kinds of projects.  It’s one of the papers that’s on sale in October (buy 3, get 1 free) – you don’t want to miss this deal!  What fun!  Click this banner to see all the papers that are a part of this special:

Sandy Mathis is hosting this week’s theme challenge at the Paper Players – “Fall Floral.”  I wouldn’t initially identify these sweet, watercolored flowers as “Fall-ish”, but they certainly fit the bill against this deep, rich backdrop.  How elegant!  Here’s my card:

  • All Things Thanks.  I did something very naughty.  I’ve never been able to make the “thanks for everything” sentiment in All Things Thanks work (it just seems so unbalanced to me).  Also, I like to be selective about what I’m thanking someone for so I snipped “for everything” right off the bottom of my stamp.  I know that decreases the resale value of the set when it retires, but … it increases the value of the set to me today.  🙂  Regardless of my naughty snipping, it’s a wonderful set!  Here’s a look at All Things Thanks:

  • Inspiration.  Last month, I surprised some high-achieving members of my InKing Royalty group with Black Rhinetone Jewels – just a small, surprise shout out to these team members.  Who doesn’t need more Black Rhinestones?!  Anyhoo…I really liked this simple tag I created with the You Deserve This stamp set and some fun Halloween colors, so I kept this layout in the back of my head to use it on a card someday.  That someday is today.  The layout was necessary for this tag and worked wonderfully for this card.  Yay for simple, sweet layouts! You Deserve This, Black Rhinestones, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Sweet Color Combination.  How gorgeous is that Basic Black background on this paper?!  I love the pop of Calypso Coral against the Basic Black and how Pool Party plays with the two.  I remember the days when Pool Party and Calypso Coral were first introduced as In Colors – do you?  If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this:  Stampin' Up! 1. Crisp, pretty and a marvelous way to show off the paper sale!

    • Thanks, Mary! It helps that I pretty much use DSP every day – but it’s not coincidental that I’m featuring papers that are on sale. 🙂 Thanks for your comments!

  2. A gorgeous card! I love the color combo, but that sentiment!! It really means business!! Love it!

    • 🙂 Thanks, Carrie! I’ve held on to this paper for months, waiting for the right time to use it. SO HAPPY with this sentiment – just the “thanks” works so well for me. Thanks!

  3. Brian this is gorgeous! I love how you tied in fall colors with a “pop” of spring!

  4. What a thoughtful and encouraging leader you are Brian. A little acknowledgement of a job well done can go a long way. The card, as always, is gorgeous and I love when you take a photo and highlight the SU items used to create the card.

    • Thanks so much, Grace. I like when I’m able to pamper my customers and team members – makes this job really fun. So glad you like the card and the product graphics. Thanks!

  5. Love how you used the DSP – which is beautiful – to really make the card work. I’m inspired by your rewarding team members. Have to add that to my list.

  6. I just browsed the paper player hop. WOW! Talented stampers. Thanks for inviting your followers to enjoy.

  7. It’s always fun to see unexpected fall color combinations!

  8. You are a bundle of sunshine, even on very cloudy days. Grateful.

  9. I really like the use of Pool Party with this DSP. Really makes it pop. Thx for the idea.

  10. The Pool Party layer really makes this card!

    • Thanks, Candy! It needed something light to offset the darkness of the paper – I’d usually go with white. Glad you like it. Thanks for your comment!

  11. A lovely card to showcase this bold patterned paper Brian – and snipping your stamps in half? You daredevil, you!! I too remember Pool Party and Calypso Coral when they were introduced as in-colours; you are now making me sound old though, so I’m going to finish by saying I love how you’ve used them in your borders and thanks for sharing your creation with us over at The Paper Players this week!

    • Thanks so much, Joanne! It’s always nice to hear from you! <3 I remember how much I loved these colors when they were introduced. They are "old habit" must-haves now. So glad you like my card! Thanks!

  12. Gorgeous card Brian , I love the dsp, I think that the dark background helps the bright colors pop.

  13. This is such a great layout and such a pretty card! I love that paper and I’ve been meaning to use it, just haven’t been sure how yet. Now I’m inspired! Wahoo!

  14. I sometimes snip my stamps, usually when there is an image with a saying below, they often ‘don’t work’ in Australia.
I think I’ll snip this one too.

    Thanks Brian

  15. Brian, this is one very smart colour combination and I like it. The Pool Party works well as a neutral. You are much tougher than me – I just cannot bring myself to snip a stamp, even though I know lots of people do it, but you are right about that stamp looking wrong as it is. I just didn’t buy it! Thanks so much for joining us at The Paper Players this week. It’s always a pleasure to see you play.

    • Thanks so much, Jan! I really like this set, but I couldn’t help but to cut it. I won this set at an event when it premiered – it took until now for me to snip it. 🙂 Thanks so much!

  16. Wooohoooo, my friend , BEAUITFUL, u hit that ball right out of the park ♥️
    Hugs Frenchie ♥️

  17. Gorgeous card, Brian! I love the patterned paper you used, and I agree, with its rich black background it looks perfectly autumnal! Thanks so much for playing along with my challenge this week at The Paper Players!

  18. These colours are gorgeous together Brian! Every once in awhile I will cut my stamps in half but I usually just use masking tape.. and then I usually get ink all over myself 😀 Thanks for playing along with us at The Paper Players.

    • Thanks for your comment, Deanne! I almost always use tape (and get ink all over myself), but the way the second part of the sentiment layered into the first made that difficult. So glad you like these colors – they were fun to play with.
