Happy Celebration for CTS247

There’s a lot to celebrate today!  Not only am I in Salt Lake City for today’s kickoff of our OnStage conference, but I’m the Guest Designer at CAS(E) This Sketch.  What fun!  CAS(E) This Sketch offers a weekly card layout – as you know, I play along almost every week.  I was thrilled when the team asked me to play along.  Here’s my card for this week’s sketch:

Happy Celebration, Playful Backgrounds, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS247And here’s Donna Mikasa’s super-fun sketch for this week’s challenge that inspired my card:

CTS_247Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Two Stamp Sets.  Photopolymer stamps are completely transparent, so they are perfect for image placement.  My card showcases two super-fun photopolymer stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog – Happy Celebration is a carryover from the 2017 Occasions Catalog, and Playful Backgrounds is a carryover from the 2016 Annual Catalog.  Together, they are magic.  I LOVE the font of this ginormous “celebrate” from Happy Celebration – it’s a celebration of its very own.

And these sketched circles are both playful and pretty. They can take on a brand new look, depending on what colors (if any) you add to them.

Half-way through coloring them I decided to leave about half of them uncolored.  I like the way it turned out.

  • Stamp-a-Ma-Jig.  Even though these stamps are completely see through for easy placement on a card, I pulled out my trusty Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to make sure I got these circles lined up just where I wanted them.  I started with the image in the lower, center of the panel and worked my way to the sides and then the bubbles that peek out above the sentiment band.  I masked with scrap paper where necessary.  The undercarriage of the sentiment band is a mess, though, where all of these image overlap.  🙂  I wish I’d taken a picture before gluing down these the Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White strips that support the sentiment.  I COULD have done it without my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, but I was happy to let this awesome tool be my crutch. • A Fresh and Sweet Combination.  It’s not often that I share a color inspiration chart with four colors, but these four look so fresh together that I HAD to show all four.  One blue, one red, one orange and one yellow.  How sugary sweet are they together?  If you like this combination of Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight, please save this:Stampin' Up!
