With Fall, Christmas and Valentine’s Day behind us, it’s time to start thinking about fun cards for Spring. My go-to colors have shifted from reds and greens in December to reds and pinks in February. Now, I’m reaching for yellows, greens and oranges. How refreshing and fun! Here’s a sweet, notecard-sized (3-1/2″ x 5″) thank you card I made for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:
And here’s the banner for Donna Mikasa’s sweet sketch that inspired my card :
- A Fun Find. I’m just beside myself over the “fun find” of how perfectly the glass of lemonade from A Good Day stamp set pairs with this fun sentiment from Bubble Over. What fun! The addition of Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper makes these elements even MORE refreshing – who would have thunk it? Here’s a look at the sweet images in the A Good Day stamp set:
How cute are these little images? While this stamp set is paired in the 2018 Occasions Catalog with two scallop circle punches, it works wonderfully with the Starburst Punch, too! The sentiment is pulled from the Bubble Over stamp set – “your kindness is most refreshing” definitely describes this ade and the bright, citrus colors in the Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the fun patterns and colors in this stack of papers:
- Layering. As clean as this card appears, it’s certainly not simple. This little note offers up a variety of colors and patterns that are comprised of 8 layers of cardstock. Here’s a quick reference guide for the layers on this card, starting with the base and working my way up to the sentiment:
- Thick Whisper White – 3-1/2″ x 10″ (scored at 5″)
- Basic Gray – 3″ x 4-1/4″
- Tutti Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – 2-7/8″ x 4-1/8″
- Basic Gray – 1-5/8″ x 3-13/16″
- Tutti Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – 1-1/2″ x 3-3/4″
- Pumpkin Pie – Starburst punch
- Basic Gray – Layering Circles Framelits Dies
- Whisper White – 1-3/4″ Circle punch
- Spring Colors. These oranges and yellows scream “Spring” to me – and what’s better on a warm, Spring day than a glass of iced lemonade? The bright and cheery colors for this card were pulled right from the Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I usually stamp sentiments with Basic Black, but I used Basic Gray here to give a softer touch to the words and the border layers. If you like this combination of Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Peekaboo Peach, please save this:
Stamp Sets: A Good Day, Bubble Over Papers: Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, Thick Whisper White, Whisper White Inks: Archival Basic Gray, Stampin’ Write Markers (Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach) Accessories: Starburst punch, 1-3/4″ Circle punch, Layering Circles Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

What a luscious little lemonade! Perfect for the sentiment!
Thanks, Mary! I’m so glad you like it and adore your alliteration! <3
Great card. Eight layers. You may be approaching a record.
Thanks so much, Dianne! In my “early years” I layered like crazy! This one didn’t feel so layered until I started measuring. <3
Great job with the layout and colors…very refreshing card!
Thanks, Windy! So glad you like it. <3
I love the layers. Love this paper too. Will put it on my wish list. Cute card.
It’s a great pack of papers, Robyn! So glad you like it. <3
So right to use the Basic Gray instead of a stark black with these lovely soft colors. Somehow Basic Gray just lays in my paper cabinet quietly waiting for me to remember I have it. That is so sad! LOL Anyway I found today’s card not only pretty and inviting but also sweet and soft. Love it Brian. Great job and what a fun card to surprise someone with for no reason at all.
Thanks so much, Grace! I’m so happy you like the card – I was happy with how it all came together. <3
Refreshing and sweet as the little glass of lemonade! Love all the colors and luscious layers! Even though we have a lot of gray winter days, I still like to use Basic Gray as it works with so many colors. I like the Tutti Fruitti paper and it is as fun to use as it is to say! So you bet I will be CASEing this once I get that stamp set that I had already wanted. It was sort of a sleeper stamp set so they say but I loved the little glass of lemonade and the little bunny.
Thanks so much for your sweet comments, Chris! I always love to read your thoughts. Thanks for sharing them so kindly.
Very cute!
Thanks, Rene! <3
Love this stamp set ! On my first order because there are so many possibilities with all of these cute images . I really like your pairing of that cute dsp with the glass . Fresh and perky colors too !!
Thanks so much, Sonny! I had loads of fun pulling this card together. This is a great set for so many occasions. Glad you like what I did with it. <3
Thank you for making me take a second look at the bubble over stamp set. I didn’t see that sentiment before.
It’s a goodie, isn’t it? This bundle has lots of great sentiments, and the dies have some great frames for other sentiments, too. 🙂
Awesome card Brian. I love the colors that you chose. You really nailed this challenge.
Thanks so much, Robbye! I had a hard time figuring out what color to use for the base, but I’m happy with the white (which I don’t normally use).
Love getting measurements out of you! Thanks!
🙂 Every once in a while, I cave. <3
Cards are like cake……layers are delish! Sweet card…..and I love the colors!
I love that, Linda! I love me some layers, and often spend most of my creating time trying to find the perfect layers. Thanks for your sweet comment! <3
Super fun take on the sketch, Brian!
Thanks so much, Leigh! I had fun with it. <3
A refreshing take on the sketch, Brian! Those Tutti Frutti papers are so cute!

These colors sure put me in mind of spring! Fun card!
🙂 Thanks, Jen! I love these colors, too – pulled them right from the panel of paper. I appreciate your comment!
Cute card, Brian, with the fun papers and “punny” sentiment!
