A Bike Ride with Steffi for GDP128

Woo Hoo! It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the project we make. I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP – always a joy.  This week we are CASEing a Jar of Love project by Steffi Helmschrott, a talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in Germany.  Here’s my card:

When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own.  When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.  As you can tell, I was inspired the floral theme of Steffi’s card – I love the layout and the long, slender shape of her card.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Bike Ride. Spring is almost here. This weekend gave us some great “outside weather” that was perfect for sitting on the porch, taking a walk or going for a bike ride. How’s that for a great segue to to this adorable bundle from Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog?! This set is under-featured in the catalog (it’s only on one page near the front of the book). While it didn’t initially catch my eye, I have had a lot of fun with the set.  With stamps and dies for every little piece, there are so many ways to build a great card.  I only used the bundle of flowers (that’s designed to be tucked in the basket of the bicycle) for my card. What fun! Here’s a look at this bundle:
  

  Bike Ride Bundle, Stampin’ Up!

• Playing with Shape. I’ve been playing a lot with tall, thin cards lately. There’s something so appealing about the different shape of them. I love Steffi’s long, slender card and was inspired to make my own long, slender card. I also created this fun sentiment based on Steffi’s card. I embossed the sentiment (from All Things Thanks), snipped it with the Classic Label punch and snipped the end for a new look. Here are the measurements for my simple card (starting with the base of the card and working my way up):
  • Sahara Sand – 5-1/2″ x 6″ (scored at 3″)
  • Basic Black – 5″ x 2-1/2″
  • Coffee Break Designer Series Paper – 4-7/8″ x 2-3/8″
• Sweet Colors. I love the soft Peekaboo Peach and vibrant Lemon Lime Twist on Steffi’s card – both are showcased beautifully on a Crumb Cake Base. My vibrant Daffodil Delight flowers are wrapped in Sahara Sand and housed on a soft Sky Sky panel. If you like this combination of Daffodil Delight, Softy Sky and Sahara Sand, please save this:
