Stampin’ Up!’s Waterfront Stamp Set

Would you rather enjoy a vacation on the beach or a vacation in the mountains? I grew up by the beach and prefer cooler temperatures, so I’d choose a vacation in the mountains every single time. Every single time. I created a sweet-and-simple 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card with Stampin’ Up!’s Waterfront stamp set to create a beautiful, mountainous landscape. Here’s my card:

Waterfront, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Waterfront. I love the watercolored images in Waterfront, a stamp set that’s new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Occasions Catalog. Love! With Stampin’ Up! designers, this set was inspired by Connie Heisey, a Stampin’ Up! million dollar achiever. Thanks for the awesome set, Connie! Such great textures and sentiments in the images in this set. Here’s a look at the Waterfront stamp set:

    Waterfront, Stampin’ Up!

I love these images – the stamps are designed to give the gorgeous look of a watercolor brush with each image. The set is so versatile, too – between the mounts, trees and water, you could create any landscape with a variety of gorgeous colors.

  • Stamping Off. Even though the images in Waterfront are designed to showcase varied depths of color (they stamp beautifully to look like you painted them with a brush), it’s possible to add even more depth to the images. I stamped off one of my mountains (I inked up the image and stamped it on a piece of scrap paper before stamping it onto my Whisper White panel) to give it a different depth from the fully-inked one. I stamped the water with the zig-zag image in a full concentration of Pool Party before filling in the leftover white space with a stamped off Pool Party image. The moon is stamped with a full concentration of Crushed Curry (no stamping off there).
  • Colors. The colors I used for this peaceful card are inspired by the colors of nature – the purple mountains, the blue water and the yellow moon. Easy choices that look wonderful together. If you like this combination of Fresh Fig, Pool Party and Crushed Curry, please save this as a reminder:  Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Fresh Fig, Pool Party, Crushed Curry

Stamp Sets: Waterfront  Papers: Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper, Fresh Fig, Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Whisper White  Inks: Fresh Fig, Pool Party, Crushed Curry, Archival Basic Black  Accessories: Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you like this sweet-and-simple card. I have another Waterfront card I’ll share tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Love the “majesty” of those purple (fig) mountains. Beautiful and serene setting!

  2. Katherine Anderson

Interesting color combo but I like the overall effect. It looks like your mountains are rising directly from the sea. Very cool. TFS!

  3. Suzie Patt Cullen

The color palette you chose for this card is so beautiful … “purple mountain majesty” came immediately into my head. Thank you so much, Brian.

  4. Wow! Purple mountain majesty sounds so much cooler than Fresh Fig mountain majesty. In any event, beautiful card. (And what a lovely message.) Have a great day.

  5. MargaretAnn Hammond

I love your color combination. I can almost see the water edges coming up to the mountains

  6. I love your mountains! The stamped off one is perfect for our Smoky Mountains!

  7. I’d prefer a vacation, period. : ) Absolutely love this card (I prefer the regal tones). Hope you get your mountain vacation Brian!

  8. Beautiful scene in a great color combo, Brian. Thanks for all your tips. Have a wonderful day!

  9. Love how you used the Fresh Fig here! Awesome card!

  10. Hi Brian, needless to say I love your card! I have this set and find that it makes fabulous backgrounds for many, many of my other SU sets. I don’t even keep it with my other stamp sets because I use it so much. It sits on my stamping desk yelling ideas at me! In fact it sits next to Sheltering Tree which is the other set I use all the time. I don’t think I’ve used my Fresh Fig ink in a while………….I better put that on my desk so I remember to use it. LOL

    • Thanks so much for your incredible response, Grace! I’m so happy to hear how much you love this stamp set – I have had it for a while, but I haven’t showcased it on my blog before today! <3

  11. I do love this little card. You did an awesome job of showcasing this sweet stamp set. Love the colors too. A 5 star rating for this one.

  12. I love how you used Fresh Fig, that one is tricky for me because it’s so dark.

  13. Great card Brian. It reminds me of a couple of the places that my daughter took me to for sightseeing in California. The colors you chose give it such depth.

  14. So beautiful, Brian. I love this stamp set and you have truly done it justice with your beautiful color choices. I spent three beautiful years in mid-coast Maine and I was astounded by the natural beauty of the beach, beautiful water, and huge rocks protruding from the back of the small rock beach. It was a rare treat after childhood summers at the manicured beaches of New Jersey. Your scene reminds me of that beautiful place in Maine perhaps more than any I have seen made with this set. Thank you.

  15. Love, love this beautiful landscape card, those mountains look amazing in those fabulous colors, it’s a peaceful and inviting scene.
    Thank you for sharing, Brian.
    XO
