Yesterday I shared some inspiration and tips for making cards that show sympathy and share loving support – you can see that post here. Last week, I CASE’d one of these sympathy cards to make a card to show support for one of my team members who is making it through a health scare. Here’s the card I made:
And here’s the card I CASE’d (you can click on the picture below to see the original post for this project):
- CASE (verb) \ˈkās\. When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own. When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer (in this scenario, I’m giving myself credit) – it doesn’t take away from your project at all. You might be scratching your head and wondering how I got from the challenge card to the one I’m sharing today. Let me draw a couple of lines for you:
- Both cards convey a show of support and love.
- Both cards features flowers that are stamped with Stampin’ Up!’s Distinktive stamps.
- The layouts are similar, with a band across the lower-middle of the card.
- The flowers in both projects hang over the band.
- Blue. Lots of blue.
- Distinktive Stamps. Healing Hugs is one of five Distinktive Stamps in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog – and there’s another Distinktive set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Holiday Catalog. As you can see when you click on the promotional flyer below, Distinktive Stamps create different opacities in a single, stamped image for realistic depth and intensity:
Just look at how gorgeous these images are – so much detail and so much depth:
Here’s a closer look at the Healing Hugs stamp set I used on today’s card:
I stamped the flower twice to create this card – once along the band that’s the focal point of the card and once on the left side of the stamped leaves. I then snipped the leaves and cut along the flower’s edge so I could piece the leaves along the edge of the flower. - Two Color Combinations. I’m excited to share TWO color combinations from this card – both incorporate the beautiful combination of navy and burgundy. Pool Party softens the rich tones of these colors:
and Shaded Spruce adds to their richness:
Stamp Sets: Healing Hugs Papers: Night of Navy, Pool Party, Whisper White Inks: Merry Merlot, Shaded Spruce, Night of Navy Accessories: Stampin’ Dimensionals
Here are the products I used on this project – I’ve also included the other Distinktive stamps if you would like to take a closer look.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

Thanks so much, Maria! I’m glad you like these color combinations. The second one was the color scheme of my dorm room in college. 🙂

Really like your Healing Hugs card esp with the Merlot color combo!
Thanks so much, my friend! It’s a great set. <3
Brian, I love the simplicity and the richness of your cards. I also love how you present them! Such great ideas. I do have a question. You say you stamped the flower twice (focal one and the one left of leaves). I only see one flower. Did you put one on top of the other?
Thanks so much, Heidi! I stamped the flower along the panel on the card. I stamped the leaves on another piece of white cardstock and stamped the right side of the flower along the left side of the leaves so I could trim out the edge of the flower from the leaves when I cut them out. That way they would fit perfectly against the edge of the flower I had stamped on the panel. Does that make sense?
