There’s a new Global Design Project challenge this morning – and this challenge goes for two weeks. Rather than to make another Christmas card (that will feel really out-of-date in early January), I reached for some gorgeous products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card (this challenge will last for two weeks, so you have plenty of time to create with it):
- All That You Are. Rather than add a thin border along the bottom of the focal shape on my card, I decided to add a little bouquet of flowers from the All That You Are stamp set (new in Stampin’ UP!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog on January 3). Here’s what I love about the stamp set (other than the gorgeous sentiments and big floral bouquet) – several of the flowers in the set coordinate with the Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies (carrying forward from the 2018 Holiday Catalog). Here’s a look at the All That You Are stamp set:
Even though the coordinating Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies are carrying forward with the gorgeous First Frost stamp set, the bundled pricing (10% off) goes away on January 2. If you want to take advantage of this savings, I hope you will purchase the bundle before it goes away. Here’s a look at the First Frost Bundle:
- Build a Bouquet. I’ll be the first to admit that building bouquets is not my specialty. To create this spray of leaves and flowers, I looked to a similar arrangement in the Occasions Catalog. On the inside cover of the 2019 Occasions Catalog, I found this beauty:
Mine isn’t terribly different. I muted the colors a bit but came the same overall arrangement. Here’s a closer look at mine:
- Sweet Colors. There are many sweet colors on my floral card, but three colors really define it – Pool Party Flirty Flamingo and Crumb Cake. I knew I wanted my focal panel to be soft blue so it would feel like the sky behind these gorgeous flowers. I added the Crumb Cake panel to tone down the sweetness of the other colors. If you like this combination of colors, please save this:
Stamp Sets: All That You Do, Amazing Congratulations Papers: Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Thick Whisper White Inks: Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, Basic Black Accessories: Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies, Tailored Tag Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge. This challenge will go for two weeks.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

Nice! I especially like the flower border. Always nice to take some liberties with the sketch!
Thanks so much, Dianne! I’m always happy for the inspiration from a sketch, but I’m also happy to take the liberties. ♥
As always Brian, your color combinations are amazing and your layering simply superb.
Love this sweet flowers and the lovely way you interpreted this sketch.

Thanks so much, Maria! You always say the nicest things. So glad you like my card and take on the sketch. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, too! ♥
Gorgeous bouquet and greens. Very striking with the white sentiment and Pool Party background.
Thanks so much, Mary! I knew I needed the white borders and white cutout since there was no other white on the card front. They gave me what I needed. ♥
Very sweet card today Brian. Great colors and love the sentiment placements. Great inspiration!
Merry Christmas ??!
Thanks so much, Sharon! So happy you like it. Merry Christmas to you and yours, too! ♥

Thanks so much, Hilda! I love this sketch and enjoyed playing with these flowers more than I thought I would. ♥
Such a soft and pretty card Brian…love the color combo.
Thanks so much, Dawn! The colors weren’t working for me until I added in the Crumb Cake – that helped bring it all together. ♥
I like your thinking outside the box with the sentiments…great placement and perfect floral arrangement!
Thanks so much, Windy! I am always open to inspiration from sketches. So glad you like what I did with this one. ♥
I have to agree with Windy – your placement of the sentiments certainly turned that card from super nice to amazing for me. What joy that card would bring to the receiver. Outstanding as always Brian. Love it!
Thanks, Grace! That’s what I love about sketches for inspiration – I would have never added those sentiments outside of the rectangle. So happy for the inspiration. ♥
Pretty ! The colors are refreshing after Xmas reds and greens .
Also you reminded me to pull out that punch and use it !
Have a wonderful Christmas !
Thanks, Sonny! I think that’s what makes the transition to Spring so fun – the colors change so dramatically. Glad you like the card the colors I chose to work with. ♥
I love this card and your take on it. I have a card swap coming up in January, your card is the inspiration base that I’ve been looking for. I love the colors too. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much, Maleta! I hope you’ll share what you make – would love to see how it turns out. ♥
I really like your flowers! I may need to get this set!
Thanks so much, June! I’m not usually a big fan of floral sets, but I’m really enamored by this set. ♥
