Well, Hello, Dear Doily!

Earlier this week I shared a fun project I made with my local stamp club last week – in, fact I shared the Amazing Life Bundle and Piece of Cake Bundle card over two posts (you can see them here and here). Today I’m sharing the second card we made together. What fun! Here’s my card:

Dear Doily Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian KIng

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Hidden Gem. There’s one star of this show – the large doily that supports this gorgeous  sentiment. Oh! And there’s that gorgeous flower that graces the side of the focal circles. All three of these stars are found in the Dear Doily Bundle (with some other stars that aren’t showcased on this card). Here’s a look at all of the elements in the Dear Doily Bundle: Dear Doily Bundle, Stampin' Up! 150616I used a pair of the sentiments in this stamp set on a card I shared earlier this week (you can see it here). These sentiments are the star of this bundle. Agh! How can I pick a favorite?! While I would consider this set a “hidden gem” in the 2019 Occasions Catalog, the card also features another star from the catalog – the Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:Gingham Gala 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 148554
  • A Little Coloring. Don’t you love the flowers that extend the length of the card front? There are two inks on the stem and flowers, but the stamp was not pressed into a stamp pad. Using a Grapefruit Grove Stampin’ Write Marker, I colored the flowers on the stamp (lightest color first). I colored the stem and leaves with a Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write Marker and then huffed the stamp before stamping it onto Thick Whisper White cardstock. I cropped the beautiful image with the coordinating die. Here’s a closer look:Dear Doily Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian KIng
  • Three In Colors. I selected three colors from my collection of inks and papers that look wonderful together. It just so happens all three are from the two collections of In Colors. There are two groupings of In Colors that stay with us for two years each so there’s always a set that we’re getting to know and a set that’s soon on its way out. You can see all of the colors and coordinating products here: Stampin' Up! ColorsIf you like this combination of Grapefruit Grove (from the 2018-2020 In Colors) and Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide (from the 2017-2019 In Colors), please save this:Stampin' Up! And now for a couple of pictures of smiling faces from club – I love sharing these fun ladies with you. We only had four at club this week – here they are:

I wanted in on the fun, too! This picture turned out a little grainy, but it still captures the joy. I’m wearing my gingham shirt to subliminally encourage them to add that suite of products to their orders.  Selina is one of the most organized people I know. She comes to club with her inventory notebook. With each order, she marks the items she has, needs or wants. Don’t we all strive to be there? I asked her if I could share this picture with you – she obliged.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Brian

  1. Beautiful card!! Both the paper and die are truly hidden gems! I’m so jealous of Selina’s note book. I’ve had that idea so many times but then don’t know how to get started. Lol

  2. Love the smiling faces from club. Gorgeous card . . . especially the big, floating doily!

  3. So beautiful,,,I love all the details and the color combo!

  4. How ironic, as I popped in Carol changing is on tv singing Hello Dolly! Gingham and dailies, who knew? So fun. What organization on Selina’s book. Always fun to see your happy card group and their creations.

    • Thanks so much, Chris! I didn’t even think of how the doily might clash with the gingham – they just seemed to work, so I went with it. 🙂 Thanks!

  5. Is there anything that doesn’t look great with the Gingham DSP? I think not! Loved your card!

  6. Only you Brian could take an elegant stamp (the doily) and mix it with a down-to-earth (gingham) DSP and end up with such a touching and gorgeous card. I don’t know how you do it but your creativity is amazing to me. I’m also very jealous of these lucky ladies who live close enough to you to attend your stamp club!

    • Thanks so much, Grace! I love playing with my new products – and I’m thrilled that you like the new pairings. I am fortunate to work with these wonderful ladies. We have fun!

  7. Love all the elements of this pretty card, Brian, especially the gingham paper. Have a great day!

  8. Brian, the cards were both AMAZING! I am always so excited to see what you come up with for our club. (I only wish I was as organized as you made me look! LOL)

  9. I’d love to see a sample of Selina’s inventory, because we’ve all double bought at some time! Your colour choicess are great, Brian. I love seeing them.

    • Mary, her book is years and years of organizing and reorganizing. She has color charts in the book and pages from old catalogs. It’s almost like a scrap book. 🙂 It’s always fun when she pulls that book out – she’s very consistent with updating it, which is key! ♥

  10. Love this! So pretty…that doily die is beautiful! And I need a notebook like Selina!

  11. Amazing….love the use of this gorgeous die set.
