Another CASE with Varied Vases

A new Global Design Project challenge kicked off yesterday – a challenge to CASE a “get well soon” card I made earlier this year. What fun! The card I created for the design team to CASE that design featured a small vase with a tulip from the Varied Vases Bundle. You can see that card here. As if CASEing my own card wasn’t exciting enough, today I’m CASEing my card that was a CASE my other card. Here’s my card:

And here’s the card I shared yesterday:

  • CASing my CASE. The stamps and sentiment are the same on both the card I share today and the one I shared yesterday. I switched the background paper and changed the size of the layers between the two cards. The changes I made from one card to the other aren’t upgrades – just updates. The differences are found in the colors and the balance of the layers.
    • Like the inspiration card and the card I shared yesterday, this card is a “get well soon” card.
    • Like the inspiration card and the card I shared yesterday, the focal point is a modern vase of flowers.
    • Like the inspiration card and the card I shared yesterday, this card is built to showcase beautiful layers and a gorgeous Designer Series Paper.
  • Building a Vase. I shared this card with my local club that met over the weekend. We enjoyed building this little flower-leaf-vase combination. Here’s a closer look at that fun element on this card:Varied Vases Bundle, Well Said, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHere are three tips for building the perfect vase:
    • Stamp-Punch Orientation. Have you ever stamped an image along the side of a piece of scrap paper only to find that it’s upside down or on the wrong side of the paper? It can be tricky to visualize the orientation of the images in a punch, so I created a quick visual for my club members to show them how they might want to stamp the images to make sure they are ready for the punch:Create a Punch Template to Show Orientation of Stamped Images, Stampin' up!, Brian King
    • Don’t Be Fooled. Do not think that you can stamp each of these elements along the edge of your paper before punching them out with the punch. Because there are so many elements in this punch, you’ll inevitably punch right through one of your stamped images with one of the other elements in the punch. You can either (a) be patient and stamp-then-punch each element or (2) be OK to waste a little paper so you can stamp each component with space in between.
    • Gluing the Elements. If you want to build a flower vase like the one I shared above, all of the glue will be added to the leaf. Add a touch of glue to the base of the leaf and position the vase over it. Then add a little glue to the space on the leaf just above the opening of the vase to attach the flower. Fill the back of the trio with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to ensure it’s all held together on your card.
  • Color Inspiration. Like yesterday’s card, today’s card features Soft Sea Foam and Shaded Spruce. Instead of Melon Mambo, though, I’ve added the soft and beautiful Grapefruit Grove. If you like this combination of Soft Sea Foam, Grapefruit Grove and Shaded Spruce, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Soft Sea Foam, Grapefruit Grove, Shaded Spruce
