I know the Holidays are coming when I have to put all my perennial flowers to sleep under leaf mulch and miss there color all winter long. But the leaves that change color help to color the surroundings before they fall.
I know the holidays are here when the Christmas decorations are up in church and all over town. I know the holidays are here when I start to make all the holidays greeting cards.
I know the Holidays are here when… the cooler temperatures return and it feels great to be outside. Also it’s the time of year when people’s houses become more colorful with bright lights, decorations, and fall flowers. People start to bake more yummy treats, and make more homemade comfort foods. In Florida it means less humidity and the change of color of license plates, as the snowbirds return. ?
I know the holidays are here when my mind is abuzz with creative ideas for decorations and presents. The presence of pumpkins everywhere triggers these thoughts.
I know the Holidays are here when I see Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas merchandise in the stores at the same time. Thanks, Brian, for the lovely clean, refreshing, layered cards you make and share every day.
I know the holidays are here when Christmas music is on the radio, tv commercials have a holiday flair, and I’m busy working on my Christmas cards! Thanks for offering the giveaway Brian!
I know the holidays are here when my house is covered with Christmas stamp sets, paper, ribbon and embellishments and the stack of Christmas cards keeps getting taller. (and I can justify not cleaning house and putting things away because I HAVE to finish up all the cards and gifts).

The sun is no longer nice and warm on me when I am outside. The stores seem to rush the holidays but then I get that urge to decorate!

. . . My chickens are in the hen house before 5 PM. In the summer they wait until 9 PM to call it a day. I have to physically close up the hen house so I am sensitive to their whereabouts. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years follow on their heels with the shorter days.
