This week’s Global Design Project theme challenge invites us to make cards with Christmas Trees. So many gorgeous trees in Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog and Holiday Catalog, but I’ve really been wanting to showcase a little grove of trees from Holly Jolly Christmas. Rather than showcase them as the focal point of my card, I gave them a supporting role. Here’s my card:

  • Holly Jolly Christmas. There are so many things to love in the Holly Jolly Christmas stamp set and coordinating Jolly Season Dies – Jolly Santa, the stockings and the gorgeous sentiments. Don’t forget the Santa’s sleigh die. Still, there’s something that I love so much about the small grove of Christmas trees in this stamp set, so I set out to feature them on my card. I stamped the quartet of trees over and over in the background of my card to build a fun pattern on the Call Me Clover paper. Here’s a look at the Holly Jolly Christmas Bundle, which retires at the end of the Holiday Catalog (or when supplies run out):Holly Jolly Christmas Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153009
  • Frosted Foliage Bundle. Also retiring at the end of this catalog period (or when supplies run out) is the Frosted Foliage Bundle that includes the Frosted Foliage stamp set and coordinating Frosted Frames Dies. I love the “Sending you a little yuletide cheer” sentiment so much. It feels a little modern but still has a retro charm. The sentiment is showcased in squares and rectangles in the Holiday Catalog, but I thought it would look fun in an oval, too! When I saw how perfect it was in a circle, I was sold! This bold sentiment was just what I needed for the focal point of my card! Holly Jolly Christmas, Frosted Foliage, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHere’s a look at the wonderful Frosted Foliage Bundle: Frosted Foliage Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153029
  • Color Combination. I love how Real Red (now a Regal tone in Stampin’ Up!’s color families) is such a chameleon.  When paired with a dark green (like Mossy Meadow), Real Red looks so rich and deep. When paired with a bright green (like Call Me Clover), we see the bright tones in Real Red. If you like this simple combination of Whisper White, Real Red and Call Me Clover, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Whisper White, Real Red, Call Me Clover

Stamp Sets: Holly Jolly Christmas, Frosted Foliage  Papers: Real Red, Call Me Clover, Thick Whisper White  Inks: Real Red  Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies (circle), Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
