Friend Card with Stampin’ Up!’s Ornate Style

Stampin’ Up! debuted the Ornate Garden Suite from Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog this week. The early release is quite incredible and, as the name implies, very ornate. With intricate dies and beautiful sentiments, the stamp set can go “vintage” very fast. I wanted to make something very light and clean with the Ornate Style stamp set, so I made this card for a special friend:

  • Subtle Arrangement. I really want to color the flowers in this arrangement from Ornate Style with my Stampin’ Blends. With no time to do just that today, I knew the flowers would look lovely as a soft backdrop on a card. It doesn’t get much softer than Purple Posy, so I inked up my stamp with Purple Posy ink and stamped away. We don’t sell Purple Posy ink pads anymore (they were discontinued last year after many attempts to manufacture the color in pads), but I was fortunate to get a pad before they went away. Purple Posy is still offered in Stampin’ Write Markers, Stampin’ Blends and cardstock. Here’s a look at the Ornate Style stamp set that’s part of the Ornate Style Bundle: Ornate Style Bundle, Stampin Up! 154119I used the Ornate Layers Dies on my project on Thursday. • Friend. I tried several sentiments and shapes over my floral bouquet before deciding that a die-cut word from the Well Written Dies would be best. I cropped the word “friend” with Purple Posy cardstock and a butterfly (also from the Well Written Dies) with a Daffodil Delight pattern from the Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Here’s a closer look: Ornate Style, Stampin Up!, Brian King I flipped the image of the dies from the website so you can more easily see what words these dies make. This is such a great set of dies that I use often:Well Written Dies, Stampin Up!, 151816
  • Soft and Sweet. There’s one problem with using a collection of soft colors – it’s hard to photograph. That’s the only thing wrong with this combination of colors, though. If you like this mix of Purple Posy, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate, please save this for future reference:Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Purple Posy, Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate
