Peace & Happiness for CTS380

It’s a special day! Today I’m sharing my first Christmas card of the 2020 Holiday season. Yay! While demonstrators are able to order from the new mini catalog (this year’s Holiday Catalog is called the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog), my project is made with carryover items that are included in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog – you might already have these products in your stash. If not, you’ll want them. ♥ Here’s my Christmas card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch 380 challenge:

CTS_380Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Peaceful Boughs. It’s rare that we have a snowy winter in Atlanta, but I still think of Christmas as a wonderland of winter weather. I dream of snowmen, snowy rooftops and snow-covered trees. Peaceful Boughs is one of the most beautiful stamp sets we’ve ever had for Christmas. Whether you want to make a snowy scene that’s weathered and rustic or clean and crisp, the images in the stamp set and coordinating dies might be perfect for you. Here’s a look at the Peaceful Boughs stamp set:Peaceful Boughs, Stampin Up!, 150541And here are the coordinating Beautiful Boughs Dies: Beautiful Boughs Dies, Stampin Up!, 150661Both of these items are included in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog and available for purchase in my online store (click on the images above to see more). Here are two projects I shared with these products when they were first introduced in last year’s Holiday Catalog (you can click on the photos below to read my original post for each): Peaceful Boughs Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian King Peaceful Boughs, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas card
  • Interesting Elements. Other than the Peaceful Boughs stamp set and Beautiful Boughs Dies, the front of my card features a few elements worth mentioning. Here’s a closer look at the front of my card: Peaceful Boughs, Itty Bitty Christmas, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI used the Stitched Triangles (new in the 2020 Annual Catalog) to mimic the shape on the sketch – I love the versatility of these dies. I inked the spots stamp from Peaceful Boughs, stamped it off once on scrap paper and then again on the Whisper White triangle to create the look of snow. After I layered my boughs and sentiment, I realized my sentiment wasn’t perfectly positioned along the diagonal of my card. To correct the imbalance, I added a little gem from the Elegant Faceted Gems. Such an easy fix that gave my card a beautiful touch of class.
  • Color Combination. I love Seaside Spray – it’s perfect for a bright, summer day or a cold, winter sky. Together with Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso, Seaside Spray is a perfect color for the holidays. If you like this mix of Seaside Spray, Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Seaside Spray, Mossy Meadow, Early Espresso

  1. What a great take on the sketch using the new stitched triangles. It’s a great color combo and those pretty boughs with the vellum and pinecones make a very pretty card. Enjoy your day, Brian.

    • Thank you so much, Hilda! I intended to use these dies again soon (after I showcased them on Monday). I didn’t realize it would be THIS soon. So fun to work with. ♥

  2. This card just calms me. Nicely done my friend.

  3. Fun the color combo you choose for this card! Makes it so light and calming.

  4. Beautiful interpretation of the sketch! Elegant holiday card!

  5. Sonny Peterson

Well hooray for you ! That sketch is very challenging ! It would take me quite some time to come up with something as clever as you did !
Pretty Seaside Spray calls my name now . I never use it ,but you are right in that it is like a winter sky ! LOVE IT !! I am gong to build a card this week and use it ! Thank you !

    • Thank you so much, Sonny! I didn’t realize I had used this color combination before until I pulled up my old projects with this set. I’m so glad you like what I’ve made – I have about 100 other ideas with this sketch that I didn’t execute. 🙂

  6. Stunning! I do love the touch of vellum.

  7. Oh I love your card!! The use of the pine branches are beautiful on this card design!! I also like the blue with the brown instead of a traditional Christmas Color Scheme. Lovely design!!
