Cherish the Merry Season

There’s something so merry about jingle bells during the Christmas Season. They joyfully adorn doorways, horse-drawn sleighs and beautifully-wrapped Christmas gifts during the Holidays. That’s what makes Cherish the Season, a simple bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog, so special. I couldn’t help but to pull it out for the Christmas card I’m sharing today. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Products. It wasn’t until my card was finished that I realized how many products were used to make this simple, simple card. Stamps, punch, dies, paper…so many things you need to know about. Why don’t I just tell you about them? The jingle bells and boughs are both from the Cherish the Season Bundle. Here’s a look:The bells are showcased on a 3-1/2″ x 4″ panel from the Wonder of the Season Specialty Designer Series Paper, which features prints from newspapers and book that are perfect for the holidays. Here’s a look at the colors and images in this pack of papers:  I used my Blending Brushes (new in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog) to add a light layer of Pear Pizzazz ink to the white paper. Here are two other products I showcased here:
  • The “Merry” sentiment is cropped from the Word Wishes Dies.
  • The band behind the circle is a 1″ band that’s cropped with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. Love!
• Masking Technique.  The image of bells with the pine needles peeking from behind is stamped with two stamps. I used the masking technique to add the branches behind the bells. I stamped the bells on Whisper White cardstock and again on the top of a sticky note. I cropped the top of the bells from the sticky note, layered them on top of the bells on my Whisper White page, stamped the pine branches and then removed the sticky note. Perfection! • Color Combination. I started this card with bells stamped in black and a panel of black-and-white Designer Series Paper. I had no idea where I would go with the colors and contemplated a black-and-white card. Once I added the pine branches in Shaded Spruce and sponged the Designer Series Paper with Pear Pizzazz ink, I knew the card would be mostly green with just one pop of red. If you like this mix of Real Red, Pear Pizzazz and Shaded Spruce as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
