Hearts Come Home

When I was first introduced to the phrase “Hearts Come Home” (I had not heard it until last year), I had no idea how perfect it would be to describe Christmas in 2020. In short, the phrase says that love will keep us together during the Holidays even if we can’t be in the same place. No one wants to feel alone on Christmas, but a lot of people are going to feel that way this year. There will not be big family gatherings in the King house, but we’re trying to figure out some new ways to connect. While a Zoom gift exchange doesn’t sound nearly as special as the traditional get-together we’ve always known, we know how important those are this year so that NEXT year’s Christmas celebration can be wonderful.

Today’s card features papers and dies (no stamps) and a beautiful Christmas scene with a “hearts come home” sentiment. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Hearts Come Home. I really wanted this sentiment, cropped from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper, to pop on this card so I only added two elements of Poppy Parade, which is very “poppy” against the Misty Moonlight Designer Series Paper pages. I used the Detailed Hearts Dies: While these dies create a big panel of hearts that build a panel of hearts I cropped the hearts and used a small section of them by snipping away at the hearts to create the band of hearts in the top, right corner of the card: I ran the same dies through my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine once with Poppy Parade cardstock to crop a little heart that I added to the front of my house.
• Christmas Color Combination. While greens are red are always a part of the Christmas landscape, I really love all of the Misty Moonlight in this pack of Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper. I also love that the papers use the bright-and-cheery Poppy Parade for the bold pop of red. If you like this mix of Poppy Parade, Old Olive and Misty Moonlight as much as I do (and I do!), I hope you will save this for future reference:
