Celebrate in Style with Peace & Joy

Today I’m sharing a fun, simple card for the FabFriday color challenge that goes live today. There are FIVE colors in this challenge – Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride, Shaded Spruce, Seaside Spray and Pear Pizzazz. While I love each and every one of these colors, I would likely have never used them together. Maybe that’s what makes this a challenge?! Here’s my card for this FabFriday challenge:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

  • Stamp Sets. My card is built with two retiring stamp sets that are part of two retiring bundles.  I built a little nest for my sentiment with the branches, holly and stars from the Peace & Joy stamp set. I BRILLIANTLY incorporated all five of the colors from this challenge into the elements that pop out from behind the sentiment – that made it easier for me to just complete the card against a solid backdrop. Peace and Joy, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHere’s a look at the Peace & Joy Bundle: Peace & Joy Bundle, Stampin Up! 155167I only used the stamp set on this card. If you would like to purchase the Peace & Joy Bundle (it’s set to retire and will soon be gone), I would encourage you to buy the products individually (Peace & Joy Stamp Set #153430, Joy Dies #153530) to save more than the savings you’d earn buying the bundle. You’re welcome! ♥ The sentiment on my card is from the Gift Wrapped stamp set, part of the Gift Wrapped Bundle: Gift Wrapped Bundle, Stampin Up! 155155Both elements of this bundle have already sold out and are no longer available. Don’t miss out on the other items you want – act now before they go away.
  • Laying it Out. I knew I wanted to stamp all of these elements (three of each to keep balanced) but was nervous to stamp them onto a cropped page – how in the world would I get them all balanced and centered on the panel? I figured out a fun (and super-easy) method to get everything right where I wanted it…I stamped inside this Stitched Rectangles Die that I set on the paper until I had everything where I wanted it: Peace and Joy, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThat gave me the opportunity to reposition the Stitched Rectangle Die just a bit before cropping it out. Yay! The stamped images don’t look so great in the middle of the panel, but I knew they’d be covered up by the Stitched Ovals Dies.
  • Envelopes. To add a little more festivity to my notecard-sized card, I added a piece of Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper to the envelope that I cropped with my must-have Envelopes Dies. Here’s a look at the liner with the card: Peace and Joy, Stampin Up!, Brian KingIf you haven’t yet picked them up, the Envelopes Dies are currently on sale (product #153531 is now 40% off and still available at the time I am writing this post). Here’s a look at the dies that are part of the Ornamental Envelopes Bundle:Ornamental Envelopes Bundle, Stampin Up! 155168Again, the deep discount on the dies in this bundle make it more advantageous for you to buy the items separately if you want both. Yay!

Stamp Sets: Peace & Joy, Gift Wrapped  Papers: Shaded Spruce, Thick Whisper White, Vellum Cardstock  Inks: Shaded Spruce, Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade, Seaside Spray, Blushing Bride  Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the FabFriday challenge blog to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

  1. Love this card! So fresh and bright. Well done!

  2. Suzanne Patt Cullen

Very cheery! The color palette ? is not the good, old-fashioned Christmas color palette. The vellum layer softens them and (to me) keeps the more traditionalReal Red and Shaded Spruce in the foreground.
    GREAT CARD, Brian ?????

  3. I adore how you use the vellum layer. Softens the whole look in a creative way.

  4. Yes, it was brilliant how you used all the colors in the challenge in this beautiful card. I love the vellum stitched oval. Enjoy your day!

    • Thanks, Hilda! I find it hard to work with so many colors – it’s not my comfort zone – but I’m happy with how it turned out. Always love to hear from you.

  5. Such a great take on the color challenge, and the vellum is the perfect accent, helping to blend everything. Love the layout photo, too. It showcases how you plan so meticulously. Yup, that’s why you’re The King!

  6. Thanks for a great lesson on how to keep the design you want in the space you want it. I’m sure I’ll be using my rectangle dies for more then cutting from now on. I love it when I get a new lesson from you on how to design a perfect card. This one is lovely and I too love the use of the vellum.
