A Touch of Ink for FMS473

Since Sale-a-Bration ends a week from today, I wanted to [finally] ink up my A Touch of Ink stamp set for today’s post. I wasn’t sure where to go from there, so I turned to this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge for inspiration. The simple sketch gave me a great starting point for the card I made, and I couldn’t be happier for the inspiration. My card took a couple of big turns but ended with sweet flowers and bunch of layers (my usual). Here’s my card:

FMS473Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Touch of Ink. Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-a-Bration wraps up a week from today. While I’ve showcased almost all of the products in this year’s offering, I’ve not yet shared a project with the A Touch of Ink stamp set. A Touch of Ink is a Level Two option – it can be selected as your free Sale-a-Bration option with a $100 order between now and February 28. There are four beautiful images in the set (a hummingbird, leaves, flowers and a butterfly), along with watercolored shapes to color in the images. There are also so great sentiments in the set. Here’s a look at A Touch of Ink:A Touch of Ink, Stampin Up! 155233I stamped the flowers and cropped the image with a 2″ Circle Punch, allowing the flowers to be cut off along the left side. I stamped the flowers again, colored them with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends and snipped them out. The snipped flowers layered perfectly over the images on the circle, flowing over the edges. Here’s a closer look: A Touch of Ink, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI stamped this beautiful sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black on Pink Petal cardstock and punched it out with the Double Oval Punch.
  • Two Papers. You know how much I love Designer Series Papers, right?! I used two on this card – one is obvious, and the other is a little more subtle. The pin-striped band on my card is cropped from the True Love Designer Series Paper, an absolute favorite of mine. The stripes add a modern edge to the sweet, frilly flowers from the A Touch of Ink stamp set. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the True Love Designer Series Paper:True Love Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 154281The top panel on my card features a speckled piece of Petal Pink paper from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper (from Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog). As I flip through the gorgeous pages in this pack of papers, this is not a design that stands out to me – it worked perfectly with this design, through. I couldn’t be happier. • Color Combination. There’s something really special about a soft color that’s paired up with a dark, rich color. Last week, I shared a card with Seaside Spray and Mossy Meadow (you can see it here). Today’s card pairs Petal Pink (our softest pink) with Basic Black (our darkest neutral tone), and I love it so much. With pops of white, this combination is perfection. If you like this mix of Basic White, Petal Pink and Basic Black as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Basic White, Petal Pink, Basic Black
