Yesterday I shared a solemn card I made to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of 9-11. If you missed that card, you can see it here. In my post, I said the layout could be used in a variety of cards despite the fact that the card was built with a 9-11 theme. I wanted to put that statement to the test, so I repeated the layout of that card with a Christmas theme. Here’s the card I made for you today:
Like yesterday’s card, this card features a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ panel of Designer Series Paper, a band along the left side, two rectangles on that band, a sentiment that sweeps across the card and three accents that help to accent the sentiment. While yesterday’s card was a portrait orientation, I made this one with a landscape one. Simple changes made a big difference.
The trio of holly leaves and trio of berries on my card are stamped and cropped with the Merriest Moments Bundle, new in Stampin’ Up!’s July-December 2021 Mini Catalog. While I only used the holly, berries and dies from this bundle, the other elements are quite amazing. The hybrid embossing folder that’s a part of the bundle has space for a die that fits right inside the folder to emboss AND cut the frame. Here’s a look at this incredible Merriest Moments Bundle:
It’s a pretty wonderful bundle, isn’t it?! Here’s a closer look at the holly on my card that I stamped and cropped with the stamps and dies in this bundle:
The sentiment on my card is stamped in Poppy Parade ink with the Christmas to Remember stamp set. I cropped it with a stitched shape from the Tasteful Labels Dies that gave me enough room for the sentiment and to anchor the holly. Here’s a look at the Christmas to Remember Bundle:
The Soft Sea Foam Designer Series Paper that provides a soft base for the focal panel of this card is pulled from the Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper. There are so many great colors and patterns in this pack of papers, but this page helped me to make the Poppy Parade brighter and the Shaded Spruce richer. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper:
If you like this mix of Soft Sea Foam, Shaded Spruce and Poppy Parade as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Bundles: Merriest Moments Stamp Sets: Christmas to Remember, Merriest Moments Papers: Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper, Poppy Parade, Shaded Spruce, Thick Basic White Inks: Poppy Parade, Shaded Spruce Accessories: Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder, Tasteful Labels Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Thank you so much, Hilda! I’ve really grown to love Shaded Spruce. Wasn’t sure how it’d look with Poppy Parade, but I think I love it. ♥
Brian,
This is such a great card! I love how you turned the design of your beautiful 🇺🇸 9-11🇺🇸 card into such a lovely Christmas card. 😉 Thank you, Brian!
Thanks, Suzie! I kinda challenged myself with this one – I said it could be adapted to other occasions and needed to prove it to myself. Thanks!
Love the traditional colors. The two blocks of red are the perfect touch.
Thanks, Mary! The holly leaves turned out way more beautiful than I anticipated.
A+!
Love the color combo as much as the design/orientation change.
Awww…thanks, Linda! I appreciate the top score. 🙂
The way your turned such a somber card design into such a happy card design amazes me! I am in awe of your talents and so glad that you teach me so much with your blog. Thank you Brian for ALL you do!
That makes me happy, Grace! I’m so happy to share and always appreciate your kind words in return.
Love the light green for the background making the darker green and red pop! Still a great layout!
Thanks, Windy! I really enjoy this color combination, too.
This is so sweet….and now I will hear Burl Ives singing all day….
