I’m pretty famous for my fancy fold cards. <— That’s a joke if you couldn’t hear the sarcasm in my voice when I wrote it. While I mostly design card fronts to share with you, I do love to experiment with fancy folds every once in a while. The simple card I am sharing today leans heavily on a brilliant fancy fold and a gorgeous Designer Series Paper to yield a big impact. Here’s the card I’m happy to share with you today:
The Night of Navy card base is a standard book fold, measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ (scored at 4-1/4″). I cropped a square out of the front of the card with the Stylish Shapes Dies and added some gorgeous flowers from the Serene Love Designer Series Paper. If you are creating along, don’t toss that cropped out square – because is shows up inside the card! Here’s a look at how the card opens:
Inside the Night of Navy card base, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock, measuring 5-1/5″ x 5-1/4″ that I scored at 4-1/8″ and 2-1/16″. The z-fold panel opens to the right when the card is opened. How fun is that?! Inside the card, I added a floral panel from the Serene Love Designer Series Paper to the panel and positioned the Night of Navy square that was cropped from the front. I added a design of stripes from the Serene Love Designer Series Paper and another flower for additional pizzazz.
Here’s how the card further opens from there to reveal the sentiment from the Mixed Labels stamp set:
The design of this fold makes this card really fun to make and for the recipient to open, but the Designer Series Paper makes the card beautiful. The Serene Love Designer Series Paper (featuring designs in Night of Navy, Old Olive and Lost Lagoon) is currently on sale in the Last Chance Items for 30% off (just $8.75). Here’s a look at the colors and designs in this pack of papers:
