It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!
For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop we are creating projects inspired by Fun Techniques or Top Tips. I’ve created a sweet, simple project with three of my favorite go-to techniques I hope you’ll love. Thanks for reading my post and hopping through the other blogs to see their projects!
The Simplest Things
There are a handful of go-to techniques that I frequently visit and love very much. Today’s card features three of these old favorite techniques – I’ll share each of these with you, but here’s a look at my card for today’s blog hop:
Can you find all three of my go-to techniques? You got it! My card features the following:
- Emboss Resist. When you emboss white paper with white embossing powder and then add ink, the ink stains the paper but not the embossed pattern. Such a fun classic! I could skip the first part of the process with the Irresistible Designs Specialty Designer Series Papers, which already feature embossed patterns on 12″ x 12″ pages. Yay!

- Direct-to-paper inking. We often add our ink to projects with the help of stamps or brushes, but we can also add the ink directly to the paper with an ink pad. I swiped three Stampin’ Spots across the pattern at the center of my project – I used Cloud Cover, Petal Pink and Darling Duckling. All three are available in the Classic Stampin’ Spot Assortments available in the Annual Catalog. It’s important to point out that the Cloud Cover Stampin’ Spot is part of the Assortment 1 option… Here’s a look at these spots:

- Heat Embossing. It might seem a little lazy for me to point out this technique since it’s already a foundation for the first technique – but it’s likely the technique I use the most. A white sentiment at the heart of my card would be lost in the soft colors behind it, so I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder – always a go-to that really makes a big difference on a simple card.
The sentiment on my card is pulled from the You are Remarkable stamp set (such a beauty!). The thin bow behind the sentiment is silver trim from the Gold & Silver 1/8″ Trim Combo Pack.
The layers are one of my favorite finds when I was making this card – the large die is from the Impressions Abloom Dies, and the sentiment is cropped with the Modern Oval Punch. Don’t you love how perfectly they work together? Links to these products are shared at the base of my post. If you love the mix of Darling Duckling, Petal Pink and Cloud Cover as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
I hope you’ll continue the Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop to see more projects by my talented friends – I know you’ll love them. The next stop is a gorgeous project by my gorgeous friend Emma Goddard. Click on the banner below to continue through the hop:

I adore your card Brian. Love the emboss resist with the Irresistible Designs DSP. Like you I love embossed sentiments so much. Must remember the swipe technique – especially the way you have swiped 3 different colours next to each other.
Thank you so much, Andrea! I had fun with this hop and am so glad you are part of the fun! ♥
Emboss resist is always a classic and cool technique. Love your card!
Thanks, Mary! I adore these papers – makes emboss resist so much easier. 🙂
I have some scraps of this delightful paper. Will try this technique and maybe
Make some cards. might need to order another pkg!
