Mom’s Simple Cards – Perfect Cards to Have On-Hand for Any Occasion

How many times do you need a card but just can’t make it to your craft room for a two-hour card-making session? When Mom was here last week, she mentioned she needed some cards “oh hand” that she could use for “thank you cards” or “sympathy cards” or “birthday cards.” If you missed Mom’s recap of her two-week stay in Atlanta, CLICK HERE.

Today I’m sharing a little bit more about the cards Mom assembled and packed away to take with her. While she showed them to you in the video from Tuesday, I’m going to give you a little more information so you can recreate these sweet cards.

For starters, I challenged Mom to flip through the catalog and find a card she really, really likes. OF COURSE she chose a card from a suite I don’t have – shouldn’t I have expected that?! 🙂 Here’s the card she picked from the Kintsugi Inspirations Suite in the 2025 Annual Catalog:

That gave me a great starting point to help Mom create 10 cards to have on hand when she returned home. We reached for beautiful papers (THAT was easy!) and then built combinations with the diagonal Here are two of the cards she created:

Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper:

Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 165175We started with the Designer Series Papers and cut pieces at 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″. Mom then cut the panels from top, left corner to bottom, right corner (to complete these cards, we pulled a Garden Green panel from the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper). She swapped one triangle for the coordinating triangle from the coordinating piece and taped them on the back and mounted them on a 4-5/8″ x 3-3/8″ piece of Basic White. We combined forces (mostly her waving her hand in the air to request select colors) to pick the colors for the card bases. I love how they turned out!

Here’s a look at four of the cards she made:

For each of these designs, she has a coordinating card where the patterns are flipped. Mom stamped about 20 sentiments on 2-3/8″ Circles of Basic White to give her a variety of sentiments to showcase on her cards. The circles above are not attached to the cards – she will pick the sentiments from her box on an as-needed basis. How smart! Here are the sentiment sets she worked with for the sentiments she stamped in a variety of coordinating colors:

With You in Mind, Stampin' Up!, 164747 Simply Said, Stampin Up! 163756I know Mom will enjoy having these card bases on hand and will benefit from having the stamped sentiments to just pop up on the cards – she’ll just add some rhinestones or pearls to complete the cards. So easy! So fun!
