I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers on Saturday. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate.
June’s Full of Charm kit features sweet flowery designs with beautiful leaves and water colored images. I love the designs of the cards in the kit, but the individual elements are so much fun, too. I couldn’t help but to make alternative projects with these products. Who doesn’t love to play?! Today I’m sharing an alternative card I made with June’s kit. I was happy to share this card during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – and I’m happy to share it with you today.
More About The Kit
The designed projects in June’s kit are true beauties. You don’t need to change a think to make nine cards you’ll love and be happy to send to friends and family (perfect for a variety of occasions). Here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from June’s Full of Charm Paper Pumpkin Kit:
The card bases and elements in the kit are gorgeous, and the coordinating stamp set is filled with beautiful leaves and a variety of sentiments for all occasions! Here’s a look at the stamp set that came with the kit:
Along with several other Paper Pumpkins, Stampin’ Up! has loaded refills for this month’s kit into the online store – includes everything except the Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Spot and the stamp set that came with the kit. Check it out here.
to a Wonderful Friend
The kit is filled with a beautiful mix of modern and rustic images. I don’t normally gravitate toward rustic projects as I create, but I couldn’t help but to play with distressed looks as I made this card:
It was tricky to make alternative projects with this kit because the images were SO BIG and SO BOLD (which is not a bad thing at all), so … I grabbed my paper snips and started trimming the flowers. I cut out the bouquet of flowers that takes center stage on one of the card designs. I then snipped away at the thin, brown overlay to match the flowers. I pruned a little bit more from the flowers and then the frame…and then a little more until I had a small, but still beautiful, bouquet that allowed me to build a background for my project.
I reached for the Elements of Text stamp set, an offering from a recent Online Exclusives launch, to build the background for my flowers. On a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Basic Beige, I stamped a few images from Elements of Text with Pecan Pie ink (stamping off for some and stamping in full coverage for others). I also added some water stains with the stamp set. I roughed up the edges of that panel with my Paper Snips. Here’s a closer look:
It went so well with the gold-foiled panel I used on the card base and layered the distressed panel with Pecan Pie and Early Espresso cardstock. Here’s a look at the Elements of Text stamp set (available now):
I added five dark brown sequins to my distressed card (this kit needed sequins) before realizing there were actually sequins in the kit! 🙂
