Before I share today’s projects from July’s Paper Pumpkin kit, I want to remind you that today is the last day to sign up for the Charming Day Super-Awesome Fun Time Card Kit. You’ve been really busy, so I hope I’ve caught you in time. Emma and I have designed some really great projects, and we know you’ll have fun with this one. I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers on Saturday. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate.
Georgia’s strawberry season is at its prime in May and June, but we can always buy fresh strawberries from other parts of the world. I am always game to enjoy juicy, sweet strawberries, so July’s Sweeter with You kit offered a fun time. The designs of the cards in the kit are wonderful, but I couldn’t help but to make alternative projects with the elements of the kit. Who doesn’t love to play?! Today I’m sharing two alternative cards I made with July’s kit. I was happy to share these cards during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – and I’m happy to share them with you today.
More About The Kit
The designed projects in July’s kit are really fun. You don’t need to change a thing to make eight cards you’ll love (2 each of 4 designs) – and you’ll be happy to send these cards to friends and family. Here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from July’s Sweeter with You Paper Pumpkin Kit:
The variety of patterns in the card bases and other elements of the kit are really great, and the coordinating stamp set is definitely a keeper! I’ll be using this one for all kinds of future projects! Here’s a look at the stamp set that came with the kit:
Along with several other Paper Pumpkins, Stampin’ Up! has loaded refills for this month’s kit into the online store – includes everything except the Garden Green Stampin’ Spot and the stamp set that came with the kit. Check it out here.
Alternative Projects
While the as-designed cards are adorable, I wanted to create new designs with the elements. Here are two of the projects I shared with our Pumpkin in the Fungeon group on Saturday:
As you can tell, I really enjoyed the card base with the strawberry-and-flower designs – such fun! The colors are so great together. If you love the mix of Pool Party, Poppy Parade and Garden Green as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Thank You
I really wanted to showcase this design from one of the card bases, so I cropped a piece at 4″ x 5-1/4″ for my Poppy Parade card base. I layered a piece of vellum and Pool Party striped rectangle from the kit and topped it with a Basic White circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies (that was sitting on my desk the day I made my projects with the kit elements). Here’s that card:
I adore the font on this sentiment. After I stamped it, I was left with a little gap in the bottom, right area of the circle, so I added a flower (also from the kit) with a Mini Glue Dot. Since the pattern in the background also features these flowers, it was a perfect accent! The design is sweet and simple, but I love it.
You’re the Best
How could I NOT play around with the strawberry basket that came in the kit?! It’s so adorable! My card started with another 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel (like the first card), but I mounted this one on a Pool Party card base. I added four strips from other card bases (each is 1″ wide and 5″ tall). I added a little curl to the strips with my bone folder and applied glue to the center of the panels so they would roll up a little on the top and bottom.
I stamped the sentiment on Poppy Parade cardstock and embossed it with white Wow! Embossing Powder. While I angled the basket on the card, the sentiment is positioned straight on the card front.

Hi Brian
Love your alternate cards for this Paper Pumpkin!
Always fun to see alternate ideas!
Great ideas for your alternates, Brian. I haven’t used the blue striped pieces or vellum yet, so I’ll CASe your Poppy card with different dsp. It was great to hang out in the Fungeon with you.
Great alternative cards, Brian. After seeing today’s cards, I realized I missed your blog yesterday.
Such cute alternative cards. I have them saved!!!
