Celebrating World Card Making Day with 5 Favorites and Double Crowns

Happy World Card Making Day! I’m celebrating this very special day for creative card makers in two ways:

  • I’m launching a special promotion for online order with me this weekend.
  • I’m sharing a closer look at 5 of my favorite projects from the past year.

Let’s jump right in.

Double Crowns This Weekend!

I host an ongoing loyalty rewards program for my customers. Not only do customers earn Stampin’ Rewards with Stampin’ Up! for discounts on orders, but they can earn Crown Rewards in my loyalty program. Every $50 you spend on an order (before taxes and shipping) earns you a crown – redeem 8 crowns for a free stamp set or 15 crowns for a $75 shopping credit. Yay! To learn more about my program, CLICK HERE.

I’m offering double crowns on all orders this weekend (to anyone who places an order over $50 in my online store). What a wonderful way to celebrate World Card Making Day! ♥ I’m sure there are some things you have been meaning to pick up – why not do that on World Card Making Day? ♥

A Closer Look at 5 Favorites

Every card I make has a back-story. There’s always something more I could share about the projects. Today I’m sharing a look back at 5 of my favorite projects from the past year and a little more about each. You can click on any of these photos for a look at the original post for each.

Light & Wonder

I love a technique that’s easy to understand and fun to replicate. I looked to a card I designed in 2023 to make this card for a team color challenge and a sneak peek at the Light & Wonder bundle:

Wonder & Light Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI initially made this card with a white background but cut it all away, added a white border and then mounted it on black for a more dramatic look.

Thin strips of cardstock on a piece of Basic Black cardstock create a gorgeous artistic backdrop. I used Peach Pie, Flirty Flamingo, Gorgeous Grape and Blackberry Bliss on this one (the Blackberry Bliss strips are covered by the trees, but I know they are there). I was first inspired by an outdoorsy tshirt I own and originally showcased the silhouette of a pelican. If you want to see the original project from two years ago, CLICK HERE.

So Thankful

I had loads of fun with this stain glass butterfly. Fun, but really tedious. I started making it for a bold colors challenge, but I bailed on it. I went back to it the next day (I had already invested so much time…) and am glad I finished it. Here’s the card I’m going on and on about:

Beautiful Butterflies Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI cut the butterfly die multiple times to make this – once in Poppy Parade to yield the frame and then again with each of the colors showcased on the butterflies wings. The back of the butterfly is full of tape, but it gave me a lovely stain glass look. There are so many dies we could use to build similar designs, don’t you think?

Sending You Lots of Love

I’m not sales-repping stain glass these days – honest. It just so happens that another project I loved from this year features a stain glass technique…

Hooray for Surprises, Mixed Media Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI drew a pattern on this black-and-white paper with a Stampin’ Write Marker and then colored the background on each panel with a bright-and-cheery Stampin’ Write Marker. There are endless applications for this technique – and it’s really fun to execute.

Thinking of You

I had a sink installed in my Fungeon earlier this year, which means I can now explore messier techniques without having to run upstairs to clean up. The Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder was introduced in an Online Exclusives launch earlier this year. I couldn’t wait to get ink all over that folder (mostly so I could wash it off in the sink). It’s the little things, right?

Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder, Sentimental Framing, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI was so happy with how the embossing folder looked when inked up with Pecan Pie on Darling Duckling cardstock. I added other color to the insides of the flowers and the leaves. SO happy with how this turned out. The oversized sentiment from Sentimental Framing covers up a bit of the design, but I couldn’t think of a more lovely sentiment for this card.

Multiples with Gallery Blooms

Following my retirement in March, I had a lot of thank you cards to send in April. I couldn’t wait to ink up the Gallery Blooms Bundle (new in the 2025 Annual Catalog), so I designed a card that could be made in multiples. Here’s the card I designed:

Gallery Blooms Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, thank you card

This is a special project for me because I was sending my cards to a lot of people who had never received a card from me before (and to some card makers). I wanted to feel proud of the cards I mailed out to such special people – I put a lot of pressure on myself.

But…not only did I create this card with Petal Pink flowers and backdrop, but I also made the same card in other colors (Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink, Pool Party, Lemon Lolly and Fresh Freesia). If you would like to see those projects, CLICK HERE.

I hope you find some time today to make a card or some crafty project that makes you happy!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Brian
