Today is the happiest day of the year – it’s Mom’s birthday! Since I can’t be with her today, we celebrated ahead of time before Christmas and again last week on FaceTime when her gift arrived. We’re planning a visit soon – and I’m sure we’ll celebrate yet again.
I’m excited to share the special card I made to celebrate Mom on her big day. It’s a non-standard size and combines a variety of new products in a seamless way. Here’s the card I made for Mom’s birthday:
The base of the card is an 8-1/2″ square, scored at 4-1/4″. That gave me a generously sized canvas to showcase the gorgeous flower from the Simply Beautiful Bundle and plenty of room to feature a bright-and-cheery page from the Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper.
I mean, really – how gorgeous is the large flower from the Simply Beautiful stamp set? It’s bold, elegant, and absolutely perfect as a focal point. Here’s a look at the Simply Beautiful Bundle:
The flower on my card is surrounded by a mix of leaves from both the Simply Beautiful Bundle and the coordinating Beautifully Celebrated Bundle. I love how these two sets work together so naturally. Here’s a look at the Beautifully Celebrated Bundle:
I stamped the flower and leaves in Secret Sea ink and then colored the flower with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. The leaves were colored with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. Here’s a closer look:
Before positioning the flower and leaves on the striped background, I splashed a little ink onto the paper using my Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends marker. It’s more subtle than I originally intended, but it adds just a hint of texture and movement. To finish it off, I splattered the card with white gems from the GORGEOUS Pearlized Faceted Circles – chef’s kiss!
The Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2026 Spring Mini Catalog, features simple patterns and colors designed to coordinate beautifully with the various suites in the catalog. I love every page in this pack and can’t wait to play with each of them. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper:
Inside the card, I kept things simple. I stamped the large flower in Balmy Blue ink along the corner of a Basic White panel and added a sentiment from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. Here’s a look inside:
Mom loves blue flowers, so that gave me an easy starting point. From there, it was simple to build the rest of the card using a mix of soft, bright, and rich colors. If you love this combination of Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, and Secret Sea as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Last Thoughts
This card was such a joy to create, and even more special knowing it was made just for Mom. A larger card base gave me the freedom to really play with layers, color, and texture, and I love how all of these products came together so effortlessly. Cards made with love always feel a little extra special – and this one definitely fits the bill.

She did. Thanks so much, Dawn! I am excited about how the card came together. ♥
Such a pretty card for mom. I love the random (not so “random”) dots. They add so much interest.
Thanks, Mary! You are right – random/not random. ♥
Wishing a Happy Birthday to Ms Mary! Enjoy your beautiful card and your day!
Thanks, Barbara! Mom loved the card she received from you – you are too sweet. ♥
What a beautiful birthday card, Brian! I love how the blue flower with the green leaves turned out. Happy birthday to your mom.
Thanks so much, Michele! I often reach for Shaded Spruce or Old Olive – I’m happy I reached for Granny Apple Green for these leaves. So glad you like it.
Happy Birthday Miss Mary! I’m certain she loves this card as much as we do!
You are sweet. Thanks, Cindie!
