Seeing Squares – A Card with the Joyful Squares Bundle

Squares are making a big comeback in the Fungeon (that’s the fun name I’ve given my craft room). With the introduction of square designs in the Love Notes 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and loads of squares in the Square Snippets Designer Series Paper, I’ve been dreaming about squares. Add in the Joyful Squares Bundle, and I simply can’t escape them – and I don’t want to!

Here’s a card I made with six beautiful squares:

The Square Snippets Designer Series Paper features page after page of gorgeous square designs. Two of the patterns feature 3″ squares, and one page showcases 4″ squares. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors included in this incredible pack of papers:

There are so many opportunities to play with these squares! If you’d like a closer look at each design, click on the image above to flip through the pages in my online store. For this card, I pulled the large Pretty in Pink square from the page of 4″ squares and cropped the frame at the center of the card from one of the Pretty Peacock designs found on a page of 3″ squares.

Here’s a closer look:

I cropped the Pretty Peacock Square Snippets frame, the white center panel and the Pretty in Pink circle using the Joyful Squares Dies. Behind the frame, I added two layers of Pretty Peacock Two-Tone Cardstock. I love the effect of using the different tones, and the thinner cardstock made it easy to curl the edges slightly for added texture.

The greeting was stamped using “hello” and “FRIEND” from this month’s Product of the Month stamp set, Fabulous Sayings. You can select this stamp set for just $5 with a $75 order during January – what a steal! Here’s a look at this incredible stamp set:

To finish the card, I added a trio of clear and gold gems from the Strawberry and Pretty in Pink Gems. They add just the right amount of shine and texture to complete the design.

Last Thoughts

Squares may seem simple, but they open the door to so many creative possibilities. Mixing sizes, layering tones, and adding subtle texture can turn basic shapes into something truly special. If you haven’t played with squares in a while, this might be the perfect time to revisit them!
