I’ve been anxious to showcase the adorable images from the Pedal Pusher stamp set – one of the “new additions” to Sale-a-Bration as of February 15. The bicycle build for two is such an adorable image, but the items you can build on to the bike make it even more exciting. This week’s FabFriday sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to share this set with you. Here’s my card:
And here’s the sketch for the challenge that inspired my fun card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Pedal Pusher. As we enjoy Spring weather in Atlanta, this stamp set really stands out. Not only are the sentiments wonderful (you know how much I love my words), but the build-a-bike feel is wonderful. Add a basket and put anything inside. Because the set is a photopolymer set, it’s super-easy to add lots of fun elements to this bike. What fun! Pedal Pusher is one of the products you can select with a $50 order before the end of March – don’t miss out!
- Coloring Fun. I stamped the bicycle, basket and flowers with Basic Black Archival ink. Since I didn’t want the images to be too dark or bold when I colored them, I used a Blender Pen to pick up the ink from my ink pad. This allowed me to add as much ink as I wanted to the images. The blue bike is really offset by the bright colors in the basket’s flowers. I created a fun video to showcase Three Ways to Use Blender Pens – you can see it here.
- Green Grass. The grass beneath the bicycle was stamped with Wild Wasabi ink using the tiny grass image from In the Meadow. At first, I thought I’d need to use my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to get it all lined up perfectly, but that wasn’t the case. I just stamped the grass over and over to create a lovely texture beneath the bike.
- Fun Colors. I used Pretty Petals in yesterday’s project, so I had some of the paper sitting out when I sat down to make today’s card. I opted for this Pacific Point and Very Vanilla print – I know Pacific Point is well-loved, but I can probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve ever used it. Paired with Wild Wasabi, though, these colors really work wonderfully together. If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:
Stamp Sets: Pedal Pusher, In the Meadow Papers: Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla Inks: Basic Black Archival, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate Accessories: Blender Pens, Washi Label punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the Fab Friday site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian
Brian – this is a cute card. I really like the color combination.
Thanks, Linda! I do love a good blue-and-green card – these worked well together. Glad you like it.
I like Pacific Point and Wild Wasabi a lot (especially PP) .but I don`t use either one that much either . You have poked me to pull them out and do something with them this wkend.
Cute bike card ! It just speaks of Spring weather (74 here today ) and who wouldn`t melt reading that sentiment ?
Sonny – I hope you’ll share what you make! I’m thrilled with how the colors worked together. Thanks!
❤️❤️❤️
thanks thanks thanks
Totally cute card yet sophisticated. Love the bike.
Thanks, Dianne. I’m glad you like it. <3
“Two” cute!! Love the colors-need to have a play with this stamp set:-). Thank you for the inspiration. I like the washi banner too! So clever:-)
Thanks so much, Elisha! Glad you like the card. I’ve really warmed up to the Washi Label punch.
Brian, I love this card. My Joseph has a bicycle built for two, so we’re going to get some mileage from this stamp set!
What fun, Dawn! This set seems like it was made for you. 🙂
Love that partial tandem bicycle. I keep trying to work with that and haven’t found the right combination. You inspire me to keep trying! Your version is fabulous!
Keep trying, Mary. You can do it! 🙂 It worked best when I hacked off part of its back wheel. 🙂
Love, Love, Love!!! I can just see the meadow they picked the beautiful flowers for the basket. What a nice afternoon this couple has had in the sunshine on their bike built for two
Thanks, Jennifer. I’m so happy for your imagination – really brings this image to life. 🙂
Hi Brian:
I was wondering how to color that bicycle and now I know. You did a fabulous job, as always, and the bike looks great. Even though I don’t have this stamp set I can appreciate a lovely card made with it when I see it. Hope your St. Patrick’s Day was fun.
Thanks, Grace! The bicycle was way more fun than I expected. Glad you like the card. <3
Brian such a cute card. I love the bicycle rear wheel partially “hiding” … it almost gives it motion! Love the Pacific with Wasabi… very cool.
I find my class gals either love or hate to color! Hugs.
Coloring is fun and can offer great reward – keep pushing them to color, Diane. 🙂 It’s very cathartic for me.
Oh, my, Brian! Love this colour combo, also! I got some sample twine in that is twisted with blue, green, and white and I love it!! Beautiful card, my friend!
Thanks, Sharon. I enjoyed working with the colors for a change. What fun the twine is.
Today’s card is so fun and colorful. I love that you don’t have the entire bike on the card. Your coloring is wonderful and makes the card really pop with the blue bike and bright flowers. Thanks for the tip about using the blender pen. I recently bought it and now I know more about how to use it. Have a great Friday.
HJ – glad you like the Blender Pen tips. They are awesome tools!
Love this – such a bright and cheery card Brian with the Pacific Point blue! I think you might have missed a bit of the bicycle (the cross frame that runs between the chain) but I won’t tell 😉 I love how you chopped off the back wheel too – you are so not afraid!!
Joanne – you are 100% wrong – the cross frame on MY bicycle is made of glass, so you can see right through it. I’ll stick with that explanation. 🙂 Thanks for pointing it out – saves me from future humiliation. 🙂
OMG – can you even imagine me on a tandem bike? I’m a really bad backseat driver – imagine a backseat peddler?! LOL
Another awesome and amazing fun card. xx
