Hasta Luego, Hello Honey

All good things must come to an end.  Stampin’ Up!’s 2014-2016 In Colors will be going away* with the release of the new catalog in June, so it’s time to start preparing for their departure.  After two years with these colors, we’ve grown to love them and instinctively reach for them.  Some took longer to warm up to than others, but we still have to let them go.

*If there’s a color refresh, we might see some of these colors stick around, but we have no information to indicate they won’t be going away at the end of May.

In a series of posts over a couple of weeks, I’m sharing a look back at these in colors and sharing some color combinations I like for each.  First, here’s a recap of the colors that will be retiring soon:

2014-2016 In Colors, Stampin' Up!I already bid a fond farewell to Blackberry Bliss.  If you missed that post, you can see it here:

Bye-Bye, Blackberry Bliss

Hello Honey

Hello Honey was a sleeper favorite for me.  I’m never quite sold on brand new yellows – they have to sit with me for a little bit while I warm up to them.  It grew on me, though.  Still, I think of Hello Honey as an accent color – I’m not sure I ever saw it as a key player on a project.  Once I started finding pairings that showcase its mellowness, I warmed up to it quite a bit.

You can click on any of these color swatches to see my original posts and projects with these combinations:

NOW’S THE TIME to stock up on everything Hello Honey (and the other great colors) – you can earn Sale-a-Bration credits for free product with your purchases AND the items are still orderable.  As you may know from prior years, as soon as Stampin’ Up! releases the Retiring List, all of the retiring In Color products will go first.  Here’s a quick rundown of some of my favorite Hello Honey items you could pick up now:

  1. Brian, all of this colors are beautiful but my favorite is Blackberry Bliss, I’m going to miss this rich, gorgeous shade of purple 🙁

  2. Hello Honey is a soft buttery color . I like it and have used it with the other yellows as a complimentary color like you said . I think Hello Honey is such a cute name for this color and I will miss that . I think Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon are the safe colors in this group and easy on the eyes. It is kinda sad when colors go away ! Wonder where they go ?????

  3. Oh Brian, I so miss Yo Yo Yellow! I just finished up the last of the card stock I had of this color. The Hello Honey is nice as is the Crushed Curry but neither of those are true yellow stand alone yellows. I keep hoping SU would come back with a yellow that is bright without diminishing the true yellow. Oh well, belly ached enough eh? I too love the Blackberry Bliss. So sad if they take it away.

    • The yellows are never my go-to, Grace, but I feel for you. I remember Yoyo Yellow from years and years ago. Do you not like Daffodil Delight? I’m certain we’ll have some great, new colors to replace these that we’ve grown to love. <3

  4. What will I miss the most about Hello Honey other than losing such a pretty color? Singing ‘Well Hello Honey’ in the tune of ‘Well Hello Dolly’ in my best Louis Armstrong voice every time I open the pad.

  5. I will truly miss these lovely colors. It is not often that I love the In Colors like I did this time. They were just so beautiful together. Not to bright, but just right. Classy. Hope they bring it back sometime in the future.

  6. LOVE Hello Honey! Already ordered my stash! I will now start working on Lost Lagoon…which, is now appropriately named!

  7. I don’t want Lost Lagoon to get lost, but I’m not in control. After my pleas to keep Baja Breeze (which, ultimately, went away), I’m learning to just let go. 🙂

  8. Biran: I will be entering a card into PPA292 using the five SU colors to be retired from top of your site. I thought it was fitting to enter your 5 color graphic next to my card in my presentation. I hope you do not mind.

Maybe it would be entertaining for a group to offer challenge using the five colors.

  9. I have a feeling (maybe a hope) that Hello Honey and Blaxkberry Bliss will stay with us.
