Cool Treats for CTS206

Before I share today’s project for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge, I want to thank the designers over at CAS(E) This Sketch for selecting my Birthday Blooms card from last week as an Honorable Mention (if you missed it, you can see it here).  Among so many wonderful interpretations of the sketch, it’s so nice to be recognized by the team.  Thanks so much!

For this week’s fun sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch, I chose to play with the oh-so-fun Cool Treats bundle – a combination of the Cool Treats photopolymer stamp set and the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies at a 10% discount.  I further added in two piece of the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper for a perfect trio.  Cool Treats, Frozen Treats and Tasty Treats – you can’t lose with so many great treats, right?  🙂  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Handmade Popsicles.  Do you remember when we used to pour Kool-Aid into plastic trays and stick them in the freezer to make homemade Popsicles?  Or how about how we’d cut the sides of our mouths by sucking on freeze pops (the frozen juice in long, slender plastic pouch) as if they were the only way to cool down on a hot, summer day?  It’s been a long time since I’ve had a Popsicle or made them myself.  Oh, wait – I just lied!  I made these sweet and adorable Popsicles yesterday with the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies, and I didn’t get a brain freeze.  No stamping, just cropping and gluing.  I cut both of the shapes with Crumb Cake and again with the respective colorful cardstock (Peekaboo Peach and Watermelon Wonder).  I snipped the sticks off and glued them onto the image cropped with Crumb Cake.  How simple is that?  Here’s a look at the Cool Treats Bundle, which, by the way, you really, really want:

  • Stamp-Stamp.  My sentiment is built from two stamps in the Cool Treats stamp set – “You’re” in script and “COOL” in print (there’s an option to also pair “You’re” with “SWEET.”  You already know how much I love to pair a beautiful script with a bold, basic print, so you know how much I loved pairing these words.  Here’s how I built this sentiment on the card:
    • I stamped “COOL” on the Pool Party band.
    • Over a piece of scrap paper, I stamped “You’re,” letting it hang over the banner just a bit.
    • I lined up the banner on the piece of Designer Series Paper (just below where I wanted it) and stamped “You’re” on tI he paper.
    • I glued down the band, lining it up perfectly with the stamped sentiment on the Designer Series Paper.
    • I snipped the edges.
    • I jumped up-and-down for 15 minutes to build my heart rate (it’s good to stay active while stamping).
  • Sweet Color Combination.  The Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper introduces us to some wonderfully fun color combinations.  The pale blue, pale peach and vibrant pink work so well in the paper that I lifted the colors for my project.  If you, too, like this combination of Pool Party, Peekaboo Peach and Watermelon Wonder, please save this:Stampin' Up! 9. Scrumptious!!! My mouth is watering. I saw a post on the SU Facebook Demonstrator Party Planning group that these framelits actually cut without the little white edge as most other framelits do. I think that’s brilliant. I mean, who wants a popsicle with a milky white edge? Love your take on this sketch my friend. TFS ❤
