Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing brand new projects with each of the five retiring 2015-2017 In Colors: Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush. These colors have been an active part of my life for the past two years, and I’ll sorely miss them when they retire at the end of May, but I also look forward to the new colors that will fill the spot that’s missing when they leave.
We still have several months with them, so why am I telling you about them now? There are two reasons you should be considering these colors now:
- Once it is announced that the colors will officially retire, we will likely see a mad-dash to gather up all the In Colors – and they will be gone before you know it.
- If you love these colors and want to hoard the paper or ink refills, get them now – you can earn Sale-a-Bration rewards at the same time. Win-win.
- While these colors may not be in the 2016-2017 Catalog, they are all great colors.
On Sunday, I shared a fun project that featured Delightful Dijon – you can see that project here.
MINT MACARON
There’s just no reason to ever say “Mint Macaron” without sounding like a sophisticated Frenchman. Right? I’ve had a lot of fun saying Mint Macaron (with enthusiastic passion) over the past two years, but I’ve loved working with it more. Today’s post features a look at this soft, sweet green. I made this card with several items that showcase the sweetness of Mint Macaron – cardstock, Designer Series Paper and ink. The card was also inspired by this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. Here’s my card:
Here’s the challenge banner for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge that inspired my card:
I love the combination of Early Espresso and Mint Macaron (even if Early Espresso look black on your screen, it’s Early Espresso). I stamped the beautiful flowers from Butterfly Basics right on the this page of By the Shore Designer Series Paper with Early Espresso Ink. I stamped the border around this beautiful die with the Special Reason stamp set and cropped it with the coordinating Stylish Stems Framelits Dies. The sentiment is from Sending Thoughts.
If you like this combination of colors as much as I do, you can save this:
Stamp Sets: Butterfly Basics, Sending Thoughts, Special Reason Papers: By the Shore Designer Series Paper, Mint Macaron, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso Inks: Early Espresso, Mint Macaron Accessories: Stylish Stems Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Here are some great products and accessories that feature or include Mint Macaron:
I hope you’ll stock up on some great Mint Macaron products – before they are gone – and that you’ll check out the amazing design team projects for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. Thanks for stopping by today!

I often awaken early and look forward to reading your posts. I missed you on Monday and wasn’t sure if you took a breather or it just didn’t arrive in my mail. Either way I wanted to let you know I enjoy your posts. I like CAS cards as well. Thank you for sharing your talent. I hope to see you in Savannah for On Stage.
Thanks, Cathy! Yesterday’s post went live at 4am EST (to coincide with GDP schedule). I hope you received the message. I look forward to seeing you in Savannah.
Such a beautiful card today Brian. Sigh! Swoon!
Love how you stamped the flower on the modern pattern. Uber cool!
Pretty card today, Brian. I love the colors and that you used a stamp set that’s been out for a while but is a classic. Have a great day!
All good things must come to and end…including Mint Macaron.
I hate we are losing ALL of these fresh and happy colors !! As I said before I end up getting attached to colors by matching them to DSP !
It is always hard to part with some . I have learned that gradually they kinda fade out as far as my using them after they are banished ! SAD !
Oh, and I like your card !
Super pretty card today! I love the colors, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla support Mint Macaron so well! Plus, the flower, sentiment, and die shape look like they were made for each other even though they come from diverse sets! I love seeing your innovations and how you match up all these different elements!
I never think of stamping on DSP…only paper piecing! (Which I also learned from you!) Gonna give it a try!
Wouldn’t it be nice if Stampin Up offered bundles of retired colors right before they retired?
This is just so wonderful!!! What a beautiful card ?
I will miss dear Minty too! This is so pretty with your signature stamping on DSP!
This is a lovely card. I have to admit I won’t be missing the macaron that much.
Beautiful take on the sketch!
