Ciao, Cucumber Crush!

For the last week, I’ve been sharing brand new projects with each of the five retiring 2015-2017 In Colors:  Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush.  These colors have been an active part of my life for the past two years, and I’ll sorely miss them when they retire at the end of May, but I also look forward to the new colors that will fill the spot that’s missing when they leave.

2015-2016 In Colors, Stampin' Up! 2015-2016 Annual Catalog PreorderWe still have several months with them, so why am I telling you about them now?  There are two reasons you should be considering these colors now:

  1. Once it is announced that the colors will officially retire, we will likely see a mad-dash to gather up all the In Colors – and they will be gone before you know it.
  2. If you love these colors and want to hoard the paper or ink refills, get them now – you can earn Sale-a-Bration rewards at the same time.  Win-win.
  3. While these colors may not be in the 2016-2017 Catalog, they are all great colors.

Here are the projects I’ve already shared with these retiring In Colors:

Cucumber Crush

Cucumber Crush gave us the fun, playful green we didn’t have with Garden Green, Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  Almost highlighter bright, Cucumber Crush is an almost-shocking bright and cheery green.  It was super-popular this past Christmas Holiday with some of Stampin’ Up!’s great Designer Series papers – it really pops against neutral or regal tones.  With that in mind, I made this card to showcase Cucumber Crush – and the Remarkable You stamp set (one of my all-time favorites).  Here’s my card:

Remarkable You, All Things Thanks, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Cucumber Crush

I paired Cucumber Crush with Crumb Cake, Basic Black and Whisper White – neutrals that allow the bright green to take center stage.  The panel of stripes is from the 2015-2017 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.  I stamped the leaves from Remarkable You with Archival Basic Black on the panel of stripes and again on a piece of Cucumber Crush cardstock.  I quickly snipped out the leaves (the rough design makes it SO EASY to snip and paper-piece them back on.  The sentiment is from All Things Thanks and cropped with a Layering Ovals Framelit.  If you like this combination of colors as much as I do, you can save this:

Remarkable You – It’s Remarkable!  Remarkable You is a carryover stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s 2015 Annual Catalog, and it’s one of my all-time favorite stamp sets.  While the set is at a slightly higher price point than many other sets (the images are really large [and wonderful], and the set is only offered in red rubber), but it’s worth the investment.  I’ve used all of the images and all of the sentiments – this set has been a go-to for me since I bought it when it was released.  It’s fun for watercoloring (if you like that kind of thing) or paper snipping (if you like that kind of thing) or just creating a beautiful, simple background on a card (you MUST like that kind of thing).  Even in clear-mount, this set gets you half-way to a free Sale-a-Bration item.  That’s a good thing!  🙂
