Miss You – for Fab Friday

Over the past week, I’ve shared fun projects with Stampin’ Up!’s soon-to-retire In Colors – Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush.  While I’ve already shared my Delightful Dijon card, I’m sharing another for this week’s Fab Friday sketch challenge.

Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack.  I’ve been in love with Stampin’ Up!’s Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack since it first debuted last year.  During the Winter Holidays, though, this bright, Spring-themed paper was tucked away and forgotten about a bit.  For shame!  The colors are rich, and the patterns are beautiful – especially the photographs that still showcase our Stampin’ Up! colors.  The Delightful Dijon-rich panel above is a great background for this sweet card.  Here’s a look at the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack:

  • Just a Touch of Texture.  While the background paper creates a beautiful texture, there’s actually nothing to touch there – it’s a smooth piece of paper.  To add some “real” texture, I added a small strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, which worked perfectly with the elements in the sketch.  I simply added a strip of Tear-and-Tape to the piece of Designer Series Paper and then added the burlap ribbon.  I snipped the ribbon along the edge of the paper before gluing it down to the piece of Delightful Dijon that frames the panel.Happy Happenings, Falling Flowers, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri109
  • Delightful Dijon.  Oh, how I’ll miss Delightful Dijon!  Not only is this rich shade of yellow featured in the background paper, but I’ve pulled it out in the thin borders around the layers and in the sweet stem from Falling Flowers – it’s not a dandelion, but it has the same shape and coordinates perfectly here, don’t you think?  I colored the buds on this stem with a Blender Pen for a light hint of Delightful Dijon.

  1. What a gorgeous way to use the paper as well as adapt the sketch!

  2. The small piece of burlap “ribbon” added so much to this card. I do love the paper you used and I too will miss Delightful Dijon. It’s an amazing color and oh so versatile. Fabulous job on this card as always Brian. You continue to amaze me.

  3. I agree with Grace the burlap adds a pop! This DSP is a favorite.

  4. This is a great use of the Scenic dsp. Would you believe I have not gotten this paper stack. !! Guess it goes on the list . I have not seen it used much . Delightful Dijon is one of those colors that takes getting use to I think. It is a rich and pretty color that I liked in the winter .
