SNEAK PEEK – Ribbon of Courage

Two weeks ago, I shared a sweet-and-simple card I made with Stampin’ up!’s brand new (and available starting June 1) Ribbon of Courage stamp set.  If you missed that card, you can see it here.  The first card I made with this ribbon was colored with soft colors in a simple design.  Today’s card, in Blushing Bride, honors breast cancer awareness efforts in the traditional pink.  Here’s my card:

Ribbon of Courage, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, breast cancer cardIs there a sweeter way to send caring thoughts and love to someone battling illness or celebrating their freedom from the illness?  The beautiful sentiment says it all.  Here’s the inside of this card:

  • Ribbon of Courage.  Ribbon of Courage is a stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s upcoming Annual Catalog.  Designed with input from Patty Bennett (when she reached her million dollar sales milestone), this set feature two big ribbons (that can be used to honor a myriad of health and social issues) and some of the most gorgeous sentiments I’ve seen in a set (beautiful words that are written beautifully).  While there’s also a set of Framelits that accompanies this set, I wasn’t able to order those yet (I earned this set at OnStage, but it’s not part of the Demonstrator pre-order).  Here’s a look at this amazing set:Ribbon of Courage, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Soft Background.  The detailed ribbon was stamped with Blushing Bride ink.  Over top of that image, I stamped the solid ribbon (also with Blushing Bride), stamping it off once to soften the tone of the pink.  Stamping off = stamping on a piece of scrap paper to remove some of the ink before stamping on the project.  I used the same technique to create a soft background of hearts on the back panel of the card.  So sweet and soft!
  • A Note About the Inside.  Don’t you just love the sweet sentiments in this set?  The fonts, filled with bold letters and scripty curlicues, are so sweet.  I especially like the sentiment on the inside that mixes these fonts beautifully.  I added a small heart from the stamp set that I lightly colored and snipped to place above the sentiment.

Stamp Sets:  Ribbon of Courage  Papers:  Blushing Bride, Whisper White  Inks:  Blushing Bride, Archival Basic Black, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz  Accessories:  Stampin’ Dimensionals

I’m sure this set (and the coordinating Framelits) will be a huge hit when the catalog is released in June.  What a powerful, beautiful collection of images and sentiments that can be used for many occasions!  Is it on your list?

Thanks for stopping by today!

  6. Very soft and sweet

  7. Thanks Brian! Its great to have the solid color ribbon in the set as I am making cards for a cousin in a Walk for Multiple Sclerosis. I just came across a website that lists 80 of the known ribbon colors for diseases and disabilities with pictures in printable format https://www.disabled-world.com/disability/awareness/ribbons_printer.php
This will make the Ribbon of Courage a go-to stamp set for me.

would you have the dimensions for this card. Love it and this set. I recently lost my finance of 27 years to brain cancer. So it is nice to be able to make cards for others who are battling some form of cancer.

  10. I’m so sorry for your loss, Kristin. I don’t still have this card, but I’m going to take a stab at the measurements for you – base is 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″), next panels is 4″ x 5-1/4″ and 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″, next panels 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ and 3-3/8″ x 4-5/8″. Those might be a little off, but I hope they help.
