Awesome at Any Age with the Piece of Cake Bundle

We don’t always know ourselves. I’ve never considered myself a “purple guy” yet I can’t stop reaching for purples these days – soft, light or dark I am incorporating purples into many of my cards. Part of me wants to pull back and stop, but another part of me is having loads of fun with this foreign-to-me color. I reached for two shades of purple for the FabFriday sketch that launches today. Here’s my card:

Itty Bitty Birthdays, Piece of Cake Bundle, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Three Carrying Forward. My card today features three products that are carrying forward into Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog – the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set, the Piece of Cake stamp set and Cake Builder punch. The Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set is FILLED TO THE BRIM with amazing sentiments for all of your celebratory cards. Here’s a look:Itty Bitty Birthdays, Stampin' Up! 148618While both the Piece of Cake stamp set and the Cake Builder Punch are carrying forward into Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, the 10% savings you receive with the Piece of Cake Bundle is not going to be offered after June 3. If you want this bundle (and you do), then get it now. Here’s a look:Piece of Cake Bundle, Stampin' Up! 150579My card also features a bold panel of the Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper that retires at the end of this catalog (or when supplies sell out).
  • Coloring Cake. I love the little focal point of this simple card – a little cake with a simple sentiment. Together, they are a birthday celebration. Yay! I colored the cake with a mix of purple Stampin’ Blends (Highland Heather and Rich Razzleberry) and colored the base with a Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend. I used the color lifter to pull away some of the Highland Heather ink from the base of the cakes, giving them a fun texture. Such an easy way to add a beautiful touch to a colored element.Itty Bitty Birthdays, Piece of Cake Bundle, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI love how perfectly the cake pedestal fits along the oval-encased sentiment.
  • Color Combination. If you are going to fall in love with purple, you might want to find a color that works well with it – yellows can enhance the vibrancy of purples, and grays can tone them down. 3. I wasn’t a purple person either, Brian, until our new purples came out. They are so striking! Great card and have a great weekend!

Brian, I am LOVING Highland Heather SO MUCH, too!
    Have a great weekend! ?

Purpleishess. I never really thought about it, you don’t see grape flavored cakes very often. Whatever. Purple was not a color I grew up with either though our high school’s colors were purple and gray. But, I have embraced it and even have some purple in my bathroom with towels etc. Anyway, your cake and card are grape, I mean, great! I really like this card and plan on CASEing it. I suddenly have a desire for grape jam on my bagel with peanut butter….

  6. FABulous looking card….the combo of purples you used is PERFECT!

  7. You can never have too many great birthday cards and this is really great one! I recently purchased Itty Bitty Birthdays and am so glad it is going on to the new catalog – a terrific stamp set that everybody MUST have.

  8. Generally I think of lavender as a color for Easter cards, however; highland heather has changed my perspective. It blends so well with other colors and now you’re showing me even rich razzleberry. I love your card!

  9. I have only recently found my “inner purple.” However, I now love it (must be the Tucson sunsets). Beautiful cake and icing. Perfect with the pop of gingham.

  10. That looks like a bday card I would love…loaded with purple! Awesome card!

  11. As long as there is frosting on the cake I don’t care what color it is! Loving the shades of purple with the gray!
